Well paced and structured factory makin game. there's always ways to improve and just going idle or hand-crafting is a sign you're doing something wrong. great watching it develop over the years

Bland buggy slop with quantity over quality as the guiding principle. Instead of focusing on hand-crafted experiences, Bethesda uses randomization to samey generate content. Instead of writing focusing on characters, identity is what defines them. The only memorable characters are those that are memorable by how annoying they are. It is an ambitious game scope built by people who don't seem to care about making it interesting or fun.

There's been many attempts to make a sequel to JA2. This one actually succeeds. Most importantly it nails the personality of Jagged Alliance well, likely the hardest aspect to capture.

It doesn't use pod-style like X-COM which I appreciate, allowing takedowns without triggering other enemies for the fun of stealth.

It's not perfect - I became over-reliant on overwatch, an issue I also had with Firaxis's X-COM. Maybe that's a me problem but it gets tiresome to positiion and repeat overwatch until enemies show-up. By the end of the game, stealth sniping + overwatch meant I took very little damage.

Smaller quibbles - I'd like a way to quickly renew mercs, when my 2 squads came up for renewal, clicking through each one was annoying.

I wish there had been more to environment destruction - it is there and it appears to work but Silent Storm did a great job of making it a core part of gameplay. Since most of JA3 takes place in a barren landscape, there's not a lot to destruct as is. But watching a building collapse in SS2 after taking apart each corner was peak military tactics fun for me.

All-in-all, I don't write many reviews but given how let down I've been by past post-JA2 "Jagged Alliance" sequels, I'm posting to tell you, this one is worth giving a shot.

Game crashes about every 2 hours on a Vega 64. This wouldn't be so bad if the game wasn't built around lack of saving. I understand what they are going for and I agree - not allowing quicksaves means you have to be careful and mistakes have real consequences. I look forward to playing that game someday.
After putting in 1 hour of infiltration on a base only to crash near the end, I'm setting it aside for now. Reloading the game just restarts the whole of the level.
There will be a contingent of people asking for quicksaves though that doesn't suit the game, I'm not one of them. I just want a stable experience.

Early Access Review
A cute text based kingdom management game that reminds me of BBS Door games of yore. The developer is extremely responsive and changes are coming all the time! It's a nice game for the price.

For everything it does well, the end result feels hollow, lifeless. AI/Opponents lack personality, route to success is straight forward without much in the way of variance. Ends up with no immersion and no emergent story, like I appreciate in other games (your Civs, DF, Don't Starve, GTA). Good for spreadsheet play, if you're waiting for excel 2015.

Your girlfriend's younger, stupider sister. In the right light though... damn!
