Early Access Review
It's just not fun. Slow combat, infuriatingly bad visual communication (f.ex. is something your area of effect or an enemies?, not clearly visible if you are standing in something), environments are hard to read with a lot of visual clutter and the progress is just slow. It does not feel good to play and shouldn't have been release to early access in this state.

Early Access Review
Everything you do feels slow and sluggish, despite the enemies not having the same problem. It feels like the enemies have a lot more stamina than I have in the beginning, the balancing feels weird. The enemies also have a ton more health, so it feels really slow to grind them down.
I expected something like a souls like meets diablo kinda thing, but this is just souls without the good gameplay.

The graphics are at times hard to read, so I was not sure where I could and couldn't go.
The intro sequence on the boat was fun, the combat felt good and it looked good. But right after that everything turned sour.

It is early access and it might get better but there might be some deeper problems with the game.
For now I will return the game and can not recommend it.

It's boring.
That is the biggest problem Final Fantasy 16 has. The first 1 - 2 hours are fun, the world is entertaining. After that you have a lot of story mud to wade through until around the 40-hour mark. That's when I unlocked the DLCs, which were short but fun. Dialog is too long and repetitive while the voice acting has not enough emotion to carry such long conversations. It’s a monotonous mess that tries to be deeper than it really is.

After a while, most bosses are just damage sponges that don’t provide a lot of challenge. Just dodge and fire away with your Eikon abilities.

The Eikon battles suck. They are boring, repetitive and don’t have any visual clarity to them. A lot of times button prompts would be hard to see because they are places within a white explosion while the button prompt would be a light grey color. The first Eikon fight was entertaining, because it was the first one, everyone after that was just the same thing. I find it especially frustrating when you are in a boss fight, and you get damaged during a cut scene where you can’t do anything against that. Also, some heavy attacks are in cut scenes, which renders (at times) the Eikon fights useless and a waste of time, because it is not your skill that ends the fight, it’s a cut scene.

From a technical point of view, the graphics are nice if you have the machine to power through. Rising tide was especially bad, where performance would regularly drop for no apparent reason.
Prerendered cut scenes are at 30 fps. The frame pacing in those cut scenes is bad. They are simply broken.

It’s a boring mess that drags on too long while having technical difficulties.

I 100% the game and was still hoping for some bonus level or DLC to be ready. It was so much fun to carry the bodies around and wipe away the blood. Crime Scene Cleaner is a very relaxing game.

Heavy controller drift, no frame cap. I only played a couple of minutes because the character will move to the lower right part of the screen after each screen transition. I don't want to know what else would wait for me after this crappy start. Waiting for fixes now, do not buy yet.

Not enough server, no way to host dedicated servers, existing servers are laggy. This release is worse than back in 2005. It looks similar, but has higher resolutions out of the box (my reason for buying it). But with those servers and no dedicated server tooling (which existed back in the days) I think this one is a failure. The servers are so laggy, that it took me back to the late 90s and early 2000s where people played online with a 56k modem. It's that terrible in the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.

They didn't have to do much. Make server tools available pre-launch, higher res, stable servers. Done. But not being able to host 8k - 10k people on launch day is insane. It's not like those server are really powerful and expensive. There were dedicated hosters and you could run it on dirt cheap Windows Server 2003 machines. It is absolutely insane how they threw away such a simple win.

How dare they charge over 30 bucks for this quality? Even if it was a free update, I would down vote it.

Everything is on a timer. I expected something more relaxing, but instead its just rushing through one segment after the other. It's just not to my taste.
You want to dive? Here are a couple of seconds before you run out of air.
You want to cook / serve customers? Here are a couple of seconds per customer before the customer is unhappy.
It's not fun to rush through everything. It's more stress than it should be.

A small and fun game. Move your mouse to kill enemies, collect upgrades after every wave. Repeat this until you die and restart again. It's a simple but addictive concept.

It's smart to put the first real climbing part after the two hour mark. Climbing breaks this game. It's infuriating, it's badly designed and it's simply in the way of the story and exploration. So many other games did climbing better.
If you are looking for a worthy sequel to "Deliver Us The Moon", this is not it.
The animations are terrible, the voice acting is weak at times, the gameplay is not fun, thanks to the climbing. There are so many issues with this game, especially compared to the first one. Even on a 40% discount it still sad that I can't return the game.

20 fps in the main menu. GPU is running at 100% while sitting in the menu. City Skylines 2 is a mess. Stay far away from this game.
