Really cool game, particularly if you're a fan of exploration. The survival elements are really brutal early game, but they ease up a bit as you get more established. The depth and balance of combat was a bit iffy last time I played, but still had a lot of fun with it.

I feel like valve is overdoing their "subtle hints to guide the player" I rarely felt like I had agency to take an alternate path or approach a problem in a different way, and I never really felt smart or rewarded when I figured out a puzzle or found a "hidden" cache.

There are some really well executed sequences, and some impressive tech on showcase, but I didn't find the main gameplay loop that much fun. I do think this was in part due to performance, and ergonomic issues with the htc vive, but the scrounging mechanics would have been a lot more fun if they weren't so mandatory or labor intensive.

I also found the hybrid musical soundscapes to be somewhat off-putting and distracting, as I rarely got to enjoy proper music, sometimes got confused whether the sound was supposed to be the world or the game, and never really got time to myself to just vibe out or let my thoughts wander.

One of the most fun racing games I've ever played. Lots of cool tracks, a reasonable array of pickups, and the drift and trick boosts are super gratifying. Only downside is the flying which is kinda hot garbage.

There are four things that BL1 do *way* better than the sequels:
Atmosphere - People don't constantly call you up and talk at you.
Progression - Old drops can still be useful after 5 maybe even 10 levels.
Guns & Brands - Guns can be unique and memorable without sacrificing ease of use.
AI - Simpler more predictable ai is actually more fun to play against.

It's the only skill and teamwork based pvp game that still manages to tolerate casual, inept players; like myself.

Legitimately fun and refreshing game to play for an hour or so now and then, assuming you can find a good server to play on.

- They nerfed greathammers 0/10
- Map is less of a tangled spaghetti mess
- More bosses but generally less difficult and memorable
+ Better ui & more options

I literally gave up on this game twice during the tutorial because of how idiotic the keyboard controls are, fortunately I had the decency to give it another chance with a controller.

It's got a funky esoteric world and combat system, lots of stuff to discover and experiment with. The game overall is somewhat punishing, but usually fair about it, which makes it a really gratifying game to "master".

Would recommend :)
