It's kind of crazy to think about how a game like The Finals exists. It is genuinely one of the most groundbreaking FPS's to ever be made yet people still gravitate towards slop like Call of Duty. Everything from its gameplay, presentation, and live service model is so above grade from any AAA game I've played in the past 5 years.

I absolutely adore the aesthetic of the game. It's a refresher from all the edge, grit, and seriousness that comes with packaged with every recent FPS release. It feels nice to finally be enthusiastic about a game. The music and sound effects are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ top notch. Nothing beats getting the final kill for a team wipe or is depressing as getting team wiped. Season 6 and season 5 have some of my favorite tracks in a PvP FPS like El Indomable and Into the Unknown. The environments are so colorful, and it just feels like you really are competing in this grand arena tournament. The one wrinkle that's in here are the AI voice announcers, which do feel out of place from everything. I don't really care about it from a moral standpoint since the actors consented and were paid, but it would really elevate the game if the acting was more dynamic or were voiced by real people.

The environmental destruction is such a highlight of The Finals and creates this dynamic combat that feels chaotic and visceral to fight through. Blowing ♥♥♥♥ up and charging through walls feel so scary on both sides of the encounters. Breaking through the ground is an essential part of the game. The gunplay is great for the game it's trying to be. Long TTKs and fast movement demand that you work together or die. There's a lot of equipment and playstyles to screw around with, and everything feels like it has a place in the game, but there are some obvious metas that are present and some truly busted or broken weapons that should be rebalanced.

The live service model for the game doesn't feel like it's trying to scrape my wallet at every corner! Don't get me wrong, that is what the game is trying to do, but it isn't as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cancerous as Call of Duty where F2Ps are literally given nothing in terms of cosmetics and bombarded with collaborations and ads. As a F2P in The Finals, I can still look pretty badass and get a lot of free gear that still looks on par with the paid stuff.

You must play this if you feel like the genre has been stagnant or tiring. The Finals is simply rejuvenating. Speaking of,
