A great take on the genre. Can't wait to see the full release. My only critique so far is that it needs to be more controller friendly. The game is currently doing a lot of janky work arounds to make it functional on controller. Making the joysticks act like a mouse cursor. This genre took off because how fun it was on steam deck, so I feel like this is a critical feature for success.

Early Access Review
A coop game with friendly fire and the player having no control over their attacks just ends up with all players isolating themselves in their own section of the map. Might as well play solo at that point.

It's fun and has potential. Very solid base game. Just feels pretty basic at the moment. Can't wait to see what the full release brings.

Early Access Review
It was fun for a while, but once you start progressing through the game it becomes very obvious how improperly balanced this game is. It's better to "banish" certain abilities because they're so worthless and clog up your upgrade options. Some tier 3 weapons do less DPS than their tier 2 weapons. Higher level maps are only harder and offer less rewards. There's a lot better "survivor" type games out there. Skip this one.

The game was absolutely not ready for a 1.0 release. AI is completely busted and is proven to track you through walls and wall bang you with extreme precision. It has potential, but should be considered early access still.

I got into a single game after waiting for half an hour and then it disconnected. Refunding.

Runs perfectly on Steam Deck.

It's a fun game but could use some work. I saw a lot of reviews saying it's nothing like the older versions, which made me a bit skeptical. Especially at the $30 price tag. I was 100% expecting a lame rip off holding the same name trying to bank off nostalgia, but that’s not what I found at all.

To address the claims that it’s nothing like the original versions: I think you all might have some rose tinted glasses on. I played a game of this, and then a game of the older version I grew up on (The Oregon Trail Deluxe). The older version wasn’t challenging in the slightest and you had very little control over what happened other than when to hunt. I beat it in about an hour, maybe 45 minutes. Exciting as an 8-year-old, I guess.

This game is very much in the spirit of the original games and builds off it very well. Adding a large amount player choice, depth, strategy, and a little RNG here and there.

However, it’s does have some considerable flaws:

- No Steam cloud saves.
- This a lazy mobile port. No question about it. For $30, that’s disappointing.
- Graphic settings are basically non-existent.
- Controller settings are defaulted to Nintendo Switch configuration with A & B swapped.
- Hunting is terrible. The ability to aim only in 45 degree segments is annoying. I’m just not sure why it’s even a thing.
- Needs more character avatars. There are what, like 15 avatars in the whole game? And these are shared between NPCs and your party. At least have unique avatars for the party…
- The option to view inventory in the trade menu would be nice.
- The ability to queue wagon grease, or use to add cumulative days would be nice.
