It is not fun. It never was. A very regrettable purchase.

Easily the most mind bending game you've ever played. You think the trailer is giving it all away? You haven't seen anything. It's nonstop brain melting. I haven't been so enthralled by a puzzle game since Portal. Some of the puzzle are quite difficult, but I refused to google it. I even had to take a break for a few months and come back to solve one puzzle, and OH what a feeling!

This game is a breath of fresh air. No dumb plot or over done 'atmosphere' to get in the way of the fun. It's very theraputic. The only downside is it's short. I beat the main game in just under 3 hours on medium difficulty. I'll deffinately be putting some more time in it. Seems to have good replay value with 5 difficulty settings, endless (wave) mode, and multiplayer.

I'm sorry. It just isn't good. I was hoping to bring back the "Pirates!" feel, but not even close.

This game is a masterpiece. I am probably ruined for all other survival games. The kids even love to watch me play it. Something it just lights up the imagination. 110 hours in at the time of this review. About 60 hours was spent in the story mode. Survival mode gets all the hype, but I think the story mode is one thing the really sets TLD appart from the cavalcade of available survival games. You don't need zombies to have a good time. The cold is always on your heels. The cold is your inevitable fate. Death is the only ending. Keep it at bay as long as you can. Keep moving. Give death a run for its money.

Don't let the cartoon graphics fool you. This is probably the most intricate management game I've ever played.

I have 63 hours in the story mode, and I'm about 53% finished. The graphics are still very impressive in 2018. The combat controls are far better than any previous GTA I've played. The story and dialouge and acting keep me coming back. It's quite clever, its personal, its hilarious at times. Most of the negative reviews seem to center around online play. I haven't tried it yet, but I got my money's worth a long time ago, and I'm still loving it. If I have to say something negative about it, its pretty damn system intensive. I have a GTX-1070 and I'm averaging 42 FPS (quite possibly bottlenecking with my FX-8350 CPU). It dips down below 20 FPS sometimes speeding through a busy intersection. Plenty playable, but it will make you want to buy new hardware. But it is really to be expected from a game as robust and beautiful as this. This game is centerred around heists and swaping between 3 main charactors (maybe a 4th later?), and alot of the themes of previous GTA games have been toned down or eliminated. No more hunger meter, no more gang territory, no more buying and selling drugs. Buying property is still there, but much less so than before I feel. Some of these things I do miss, but there is still plenty to do. I really enjoy all the dozens of little random pedestrian encounters that include dialouge and mini missions. Also should mention I do enjoy 1st person mode sometimes (while driving). Weapon mods are sweet. And there is a HUGE modding community to keep you busy for the next century or two.

Maaan, I'm a tribes fan from way back. This is a classic case of a good game ruined by bad business practices.

Pros:
The game is fun. Good controls, good graphics. Good mix of nostalgia and modernity.

Cons:
First of all, this game is pay to win. That's a big downer.
I might actually look past that and even throw some money at them, but I can't access my account.
I made my account with a student email like 7 years ago. I can no longer get into that email.
I've tried contacting HiRez more than once to try to change my email, and I get no response.

I'm not saying don't buy it, but be prepared for a FPS ponzie scheme with no support whatsoever, if you were ever to need it.

I really don't understand the hype. I'm all for old school simple action games if done right. My main issue with this game is the controls feel floaty. You probably know exactly what I mean by that too.

If the controls were tight I could forgive the repetitive bland maps and retro AI.

Pros:
I guess the graphics hold up ok for how old this game is. The scale of the battles is pretty huge.

I mean if you're just looking for a doom throwback with keyboard mouse controls and ridiculously simple everything, then by all means, buy this game. But be prepared to be disappointed by the controls. (is it possible to be prepared to be disappointed?)
