This game may prevent you from ever doing anything productive ever again.

This game is truly amazing and deserves a lot more attention than it’s getting. I was trying to find a game to play with my wife since she has a Quest 2, and this game came up as a cross platform multiplayer game which sounded similar to Overcooked (which we both love).

It’s seriously just great casual fun, which still provides a decent challenge for 2 people. Playing with 4 people just enhances the fun, and it’s so great to have a game that supports 4 VR players.

The cross platform play is completely seamless and it’s very quick to start up and get right into a level. There’s tons of unlocks and many more levels that we’ve yet to see. A must have for anyone with multiple headsets or multiple friends with headsets!

It's Skyrim in VR, it runs well (on my PC at least), and most SE mods work flawlessly out of the box.

Yeah it's blurry and the motion takes some getting used to (I prefer smooth movement mode to the teleporting), I find the game very fun so far. I got used to the blurriness after thirty minutes or so, and the combat is a blast. The story is particularly annoying at the beginning but I felt the same way about non-VR Fallout 4.

(I'm only writing this review now to offset all the 20-30 minute bad reviews. I will update when I have more playtime in.)

This is definitely one of the best action-based experiences that exists in VR right now. While the campaign is short and the additional content is somewhat limited, the gameplay is just so FUN. Every time I show this game to a friend they struggle with some of the mechanics that seem clunky at first, but quickly those things become intuitive and they begin to look more and more like a crazy action movie hero. I remember playing SUPERHOT and loving the feeling I got when I finished a level and got to see everything happen in real time. SUPERHOT VR more potently delivers that same feeling. Now you actually ARE the action hero, and although the enemy patterns are very predictable and they often do the same thing, you can come up with a new crazy way to deal with them that makes you feel even more powerful.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this game based on my first impressions. I was very hopeful for the combat after watching the gameplay videos, and I fear that ultimately this game seems to forget what DOOM is all about. The addition of story told by a voiced main character is a very odd choice for a VR game and to be honest just feels like a waste of the players time. The addition of a hacking game is also a questionable design choice, but either of these could be forgiven if the game had that feel of gruesome destruction and fast paced action.

What I think really killed this game for me was the glory kill mechanic. It looks cool at first but quickly loses it's luster, particularly when you "go beserk" and just teleport into a massive enemy for them to just "pop" into nothingness with a little bit of gore. I understand why the system from DOOM 2016 cannot work in DOOM VFR, but I think at least allowing for the player to punch the enemies to death during glory kills and berserk powerups would provide a much better bad*** feeling.

As a final note, I found the performance to be less than optimal on my i7-4790 and GTX 1060 (6GB). There were frequent stutters and freezes during the glory kills that were very disorienting and made for a very unpleasant time.

First of all, the Restored Content Mod is a non-negotiable requirement to play this game. The release version of the game was sadly very flawed, and while that still shows through in some parts of TSLRCM, it vastly improves upon the original release.

KOTOR II: The Sith Lords delivers the best narrative and writing that has existed in a Star Wars game to date. While there is still some overarching "save the galaxy" plot, the primary narrative is a very personal story which serves to make every revelation far more meaningful and interesting. If that isn't enough, the story has a substantial amount of complexity that has unfortunately been missing from all forms of Star Wars media. The characters have complex and compelling motivations and likes/dislikes rather than one-dimensional cookie-cutter good/bad characters. Each setting has its own unique flavor and music while still retaining the atmospheric sense of looming darkness. It's a crying shame that we haven't seen and probably won't ever see another Star Wars game that utilizes all the top-notch worldbuilding done in this game.

Don't buy this unless Take Two and Rockstar back off and allow mods in Singleplayer. They don't want to make content for Singleplayer, fine. But the modding community was keeping it alive. They need to know that.

I'll leave my old review up, so that we can remember how this launch went, as well as how big of a comeback this is. Over the past year Hello Games has added a lot of content to the game that brings it much more in line with what we were all expecting back at launch. While it doesn't necessarily exonerate them from everything that they've did, I believe they deserve some credit for trying to improve a game that had, for all intents and purposes, flopped. There was no guarantee that any further work would have netted them any financial gain, and that's commendable.

I find that there is a lot more content to enjoy, the game feels polished and well thought out, and (most importantly for me) it performs significantly better. The ability to play with friends is a welcome addition that will enable me to spend many hours exploring the galaxy I wanted to explore before, but couldn't.

Past Review:
I have an i7 4790K, GTX 1080 and 24 GB DDR4 RAM.

I could get it to run inconsistently around 60 FPS after applying all the proposed fixes, but suddenly when I went to land on a new planet I got stuck at 15 FPS with constant dips down to 5 FPS. Changing the resolution, putting the graphics setting as low as possible, none of it helps. This game does not look nice enough to run this poorly.

While this game is definitely dated, it's one of those few classics that's really worth playing even now. It's a DOOM-esque FPS with a bit of Puzzle/Platformer thrown in. The narrative is minimal, though it accomplishes what it needs to. It's probably noteable that this isn't really a "The fate of the galaxy rests on your shoulders!" story, rather you're a mercenary doing generally small-scale infiltration missions.

The map design seemed a bit confusing to me at first, but you get used to it. I was flying through the final few missions and still collecting most of the secrets along the way.

It's pretty short, but each mission is unique while being both challenging and fun. It's worth playing at least for a little bit to recognize the roots of the Jedi Knight series and some obvious inspirations for Shadows of the Empire.
