I love this game. "The Last Boy Scout: The Video Game".

I got this game in a bundle, so basically free.

Review after one hour:

It's not good. It's bad. The screen tearing is incredible. I might be able to fix it or get it to manageable levels, but thing is that the game just isn't much fun so I really can't be bothered. So far I've only played Red Hood and he moves like a gorilla in a jumpsuit. I'm in the police station trying to stealth around and it honestly seems like it would be a lot easier to just knock out/kill everyone instead of trying lug this giant sack of meat around the station to avoid the cameras and the police. I'll play through a little more so I can try the other characters and see if one is more fun. I'd just start a new game but probably half of my "play time" was just watching very long videos waiting to get control.

I'll update once I've played some more.

Review after two hours:

About the same. Restarted as Robin. Although he moves better than half a pig carcass, it's still just not fun. There's no flow, there's no heroism. It's like if the people in Watch Dogs 2 were pretending to be working with Batman. While it's ok, it's not a superhero game. If everything you were doing weren't all about Batman, maybe it would be good. But it's not.

The game plays great, and it was really fun to do the final fight. There is no complaint about that.

The problem is the price. This was completely meant to be DLC for the first game, but Sony decided they could make more by charging full AAA price for it. I have finished the first play-through in about 10 hours. For $60, that is outrageous. I assume NG+ will take less than 10 hours (since I have gear and actually know what I'm doing).

So should you play this? Absolutely--but only if you can get it for $10.

This is not the Marvel version of XCOM. This is the Marvel version of Persona. It's a good game, and I got my money's worth even though I bought the ultimate edition (all costumes). I enjoyed it, but I don't know if I'll be going back to play it. Still, 113 hours is a reasonable amount of time.

I enjoyed it.

A fun little puzzle game. I got it with a bundle, but I'd say it's worth the price. It does take a while to figure it out (although it's possible I wasn't paying enough attention when the rules were shown), but once you do it's challenging but fun.

So....do I recommend this game?

It's fun, and I like the vagaries. It reminds me of the kind of "game" you'd play as a kid, putting your hand out the window and feeling the wind flow over and under it. It's enjoyable, and relaxing.

But it is not worth $15. There simply isn't enough gameplay. If there were some kind of endless mode with randomly generated worlds, that would be something. But I finished the game in 3.5 hours, and there really isn't any reason to play again. even the remaining achievements are "go high on this world" or "go fast close to the ground on this world". Nothing else to find, or to see. There's not even any reason to "explore" the worlds that I could find.

At any rate, I'm glad I played it, but wish it had been cheaper.

Fantastic game so far (93 minutes). I enjoyed SE3/4, and SE Trilogy (although that game needed a save system, IMO). This game is rollicking good fun. Indiana Jones X Sniper Elite with a splash of Borderlands (thought a lot fewer guns). All that I'm missing so far is a scope on my rifle, but that might come later.

I don't know if I would be as positive if the game had been full price, but for half off it's worth it (and I got it at -90%, so it's outstanding!).

I love it, and I expect I'll get my money's worth ($1/hr). I have 18 hours in (17 in my second character) and I haven't fought the first boss yet. I should easily hit 30 hrs with one character, and then can do a completely different playthrough with another.

If you liked Kingdoms of Amalur, you'll probably like this game. If you think Dark Souls is the pinnacle of gaming, you probably won't.

UPDATE:
According to Steam, I've played a total of 69 hours (Nice). I have now completed the game with one character (~level 30), but that only took about 23 hours (the rest was false starts with other characters). I wholeheartedly recommend the game. It isn't deep (classes and species don't seem to matter much, you can build fantastic gear as you go), builds won't be hugely different, but I expect that you can get at least 2 playthroughs by doing NG+ and playing the opposite morality. All in all, I stand by what I said before--if you like Kingdom of Amalur, you'll like this.

In the time I played, I never once felt like a super-powered being. I felt like a new guy at school, getting the crap kicked out of me until I could get the bullies alone. Not fun at all.
