Great game. It's a shame that ME3 is not also on Steam. I took one character through the entire trilogy.

great, classic game. I owned this as a kid back when it was new, despite looking dated now it still plays very well and is a brilliant 3D puzzle platformer.

I am a huge fan of Alpha Centauri and Civ 5, so this seemed like a logical option. As far as I'm concerened it doesn't live up to the gameplay and detail of Alpha Centauri...

...but that would be fine were it not for the fact that I have been unable to complete one full game without crashing, locking up and general frustratingly poor problems that we shouldn't expect from a 'complete' game of this calibre.

Not worth the expense, even on sale. Avoid.

step 1) ramp up your intelligence and trainer stats as high as possible
step 2) recruit swadians
step 3) buy bread, fight looters, level up, repeat
step 4) rampage the countryside flattening everything in your wake with your horde of Swadian Knights

HOORAY!

optional step 5) go achievement hunting, get frustrated when you can't Manifest Destiny

I have vague recollections of playingthe demo of Battlezone back in the day when it was new, so I came to it only loosely familiar with it. I usually wait for the games to be on sale but with BZ98 I bought it at full price and haven't regretted it!

In short it's a very good combination of action and real-time strategy. The command and control system is easy to master and I find it satisfying when commanding units remotely around the battlefield.

Medium difficulty provides a decent amount of challenge and I can see that there will be a lot of replayability in cracking the higher difficulty settings and also using the Steam Workshop content.

Early Access Review
I am a big fan of the original Half-Life and HL2 and have played through the original numerous times. Black Mesa didn't disappoint. It is a faithful recreation of the original game but with enough variation to keep it interesting while also showing off a bit of what the improved graphics and physics engine can do.

My only reservation is that since this game is still a work in progress the final section of the game on Xen is not yet available. None the less we are expecting to be completed at some point in the (near?) future and when it arrives it will probably be good!

Revisiting this quite a few years after first playing, it still stands up as a great game. The storytelling is great, as is true for a lot of Telltale Games' offerings.

The choices you make definitely do shape the narrative, and affect which characters come through with you. Some of the choices feel tough, and there isn't an over-reliance on quick-time events.

Well worth a visit, or a re-visit, and then take your save through to the following instalments in the series.

The 400 days expansion is also very cool, albeit short.

An excellent game!

I completed the Mass Effect series a few years back on PS3 and have thoroughly enjoyed starting again on the PC. There is huge replayability value in this game and its successors ME2 and ME3.

My only gripe about Mass Effect is the driving. When roving around in your vehicle the physics is pretty shoddy and I found the driving parts of the game quite frustrating.

But that annoyance is massively offset by the quality of the action and the storyline.
