INTRODUCTION

RoboCop: Rogue City is an ultraviolent first person shooter mostly inspired by the tone set by the first (and by far the best) RoboCop movie. You'll be shooting creeps (taking them in dead or alive), solve crimes and (no joke) give out parking violation tickets among other activities.

GAMEPLAY

You will be exploring different locations set in Detroit City (streets, warehouses, buildings etc.) during daytime and nighttime. The gameplay is mostly very simple - most of the time you will be walking point A to point B and shoot enemies and/or collect/scan trinkets along the way. While that may not sound like much the action is often excellent and really makes you feel like RoboCop. His movement is slow but RoboCop can tank a lot of damage and deal even more back. You will be shooting of limbs, throwing people around like toys (as well as throwing entire thrash containers and motorcycles at enemies). There are a lot of upgrade options for your main weapon (the Auto 9 gun) you will be unlocking along the way and a lot of different skills you can invest in when you collect skill points or level up (stat upgrades such as more health or better armor and different abilities like bullet time, special attacks etc.).

STORY/ATMOSPHERE

The story, while nothing to write home about is good enough and not completely predictable. The characters are well written and either undergo development while the story unfolds or have hidden intentions you might not expect. It's worth mentioning you will have an impact on some of them by making certain dialogue options. The atmosphere is spot on. It really feels like you are a part of the RoboCop universe. The streets are filled with trash (human and otherwise), locations and detailed and accurate representations of what the movie was going for. The music is pretty good (and rises far above that when the RoboCop movie theme kicks in).

GRAPHICS/PERFORMANCE

Despite using cutting edge Unreal 5 engine the graphics are kind of a mixed bag but in no way bad. Let's get the weakest part out of the way - the character models are often not great. While RoboCop himself looks amazing and a few of the characters look pretty good a lot of them look pretty generic and lack more detailed animation or a more refined design. With that out of the way the locations mostly look great and when bullets (and people) start flying it often looks nothing short of amazing. Tons of well done effects combined with all sorts of materials (the environment is very interactive and a lot of it is destructible, including walls/concrete in some areas), blood, and limbs flying around. The performance was mostly great on my PC without severe stutters or slowdown (which has sadly become very rare these days). I do have a decent rig (RTX 3080, Ryzen 5600, 32GB ram, SSD storage) so I can't verify how well it will run on lover end machines but i imagine it runs pretty great considering it is Steam Deck verified.

CONCLUSION

RoboCop: Rogue City won't blow your mind but is without any doubt a great game with a lot of love and care for the source material. The story and characters are good, the atmosphere great and so is the shooting. It's worth pointing out the game is not very long - I've collected every achievement in under 11 hours (but bear in mind I played the game on medium difficulty and have not done all of the side content). You could easily stretch the game time to 15 hours by increasing the difficulty and do a little more exploring.

If you don't play this game there will be ...trouble.

Hello, I would like to ask if you trade humble bundle and fanatical cd-keys, even if you do not trade them, I am looking for a few old bundled ones, so you might have a few and I'm ready to offer some games from your wishlist, in case you are interested - accept my friendship, I'm also ready to go first if we find decent trade for both of us, thanks(seen your profile on fanatical group)
