Without a doubt one of the most compelling and engaging story driven game I have played in a long time. I admire Ninja Theory's dedication and passion to tackle such a sensitive subject matter like Mental Health. I genuinely felt engaged and found Senua’s ongoing struggle with perception relatable. Huge bonus points to how the game conveys narration with the use of the multiple voices in Senua’s head, the use of puzzles to demonstrate the symptoms of perception and sycosis, and of course the story theme built from the idea of self-acceptance. I would argue this game is not for the faint hearted, Senua’s symptoms are explored in great detail and I genuinely felt uncomfortable within the first five minutes of the game because of the examples given earlier. It probably goes without saying but this almost brought me back to my own life traumas, which I was not expecting. However, the game gave me compelling reason to fight on, as both Senua and I could battle and overcome our fears together.
