What if Into the Breach but only one mech? To offset for reduced complexity FiTS constantly throws new mechanics at you but it's still a fair bit more causal and less likely to make brain hurt. A fun if somewhat throwaway affair.

Minor annoyances: Mechanics are sometimes poorly and inadequately explained. UI not that Steam Deck friendly (squinting required).

It's more Hades with more ways to add variety spice to runs. It's good.

Really good fun, far more inviting to geuine real-time tactics saving a bad situation than I expected (slow time is excellently well done).

Cracking murder mystery ♥♥♥ political thriller. Color Gray have not hit upon the perfect system for proving that you've figured it out but the figuring-it-out process is very satisfying.

I will likely never be any good at any of these games and I won't lose hours upon hours to them but to me that's not the point. The enjoyment is in the discovery and figuring out of this weird and wonderful curiosity cabinet of gaming.

I think the most telling thing about any Psychonauts game is that I always hang around for a bit after finishing the game. Not to 100% it, not to find every collectible or achievement but to say goodbye - to the characters, to the story and to the amazing world that Double Fine has created.

Played in 2019. Still felt like it was bringing something new to the table.

Very good first impressions. The gameplay is solid, but it's the excellent writing and art that really sells it. Love the characters.

I think it's safe to say that DKAS is inspired by Broforce. Only - and only in comparison to Broforce - it feels a bit more self-serious and po-faced. So Poforce, if you will. Where Free Lives made a clever sendup of 80s action movie tropes, Killhouse is just recycling them without much reflection.

That said, it's a pretty good sidescrolling shooter with a decent amount of tactical options. And it's a perfect match for the Steam Deck.
