One of the first "true" hacking games / coding games I have ever seen. I've played just about every coding/hacking game on Steam and this is in a category of its own.

*You can use a full, real programming language to play the game, with external libraries and everything.
*You can read the game's source code.
*You can exploit the game's code itself, and this is encouraged.
*The nature of the game itself encourages you to experiment, providing you new puzzles and mechanics to conquer along the way while leaving things very much open as to how you can approach the game and meet it's goals (or your own!).

I might be a bit biased as I also like incremental games and know those aren't for everyone. In this case, the incremental nature gives you a goal without punishing you too much, leaving you endless room to optimize and improve. I am a novice on again off again hobbyist programmer and this has definitely encouraged me, although no coding experience is required to get started.

Very addicting mix of simple arcade gameplay with roguelike metagame - the soundtrack absolutely SLAPS i cannot stop listening to it. The mobile version is great too and for some reason its easier for me.

Sublime.

I was first introduced to the board game and quickly snapped this up afterward. I feel the playmat view is more intuitive (which is available through a button in this version but is what you'd be used to in the board game version). Being able to see all rows simultaneously without toggling and then not took some adjustment.

As an old time MTG fan, I love the complexity and how certain cards, or card combos, can be total game changers if you're paying attention -- for those who aren't, its not that spicy relax. At the same time there is an obvious and deliberate lack of competitive elements, even the ones present have optional modes that individualize achievement. I feel like that deserves some attention, its like the anti-Monopoly. Even uber competitive types might be lulled into chilling out with the birdsong and less-zero-sum nature of the gameplay.

It has a learning curve. You might even feel weird about this. Just buy it.

A great game.

An excellent game for when you have just a certain amount of attention to spare, as well.

Blends elements of idle, incremental, puzzle, rpg, and the original lore and 8 bit flavor on top combine to seriously win me over.

Understated. Beautiful. Timeless, Elemental. Cathartic. Still one of a kind after all these years. Few games can instill...words actually fail. Just play it.

I was on a rimworld kick and stumbled on this...a game that at first glance is much easier from a survival perspective but hides systems, on systems on systems of depth. Currently the best guides to be found are in the scattered google docs and help channel in their official discord - a lot of the concepts are unintuitive and require a combination of guides and trying (and failing) in order to understand properly. So while I had to spend a lot of time reading docs, and starting over, I can officially say I'm having a lot of fun now. Like a sci fi or fantasy novel that doesn't explain or give you anything for 3 or 400 pages then suddenly comes together.

Received free as part of sequel promotion.

I've loved this game for years and I love rediscovering it again now. Some of the dialogue is a little dated and arguably not PC anymore but the soul of the game and the originality of the simulation make this a gold classic for sure. Its not a fast burn, but there are endless bits of your base to optimize and hilarious antics to observe.

A very relaxing and dynamic sim. Still a fair amount of bugs post 1.0 but the developer is very active and responsive and I've seen big improvements this week alone. Its a bit of a slow burn and you should save often, but if you are in this genre you're probably already doing that.

A mostly facile experience of connecting black boxes that do things that mostly doesn't require understanding of the topic at hand. I'm sympathetic - the scope of the topics being tackled exceeds what many programming games attempt to each but in the process it is oversimplified to the point of not really giving much understanding or accomplishment at all. The middle module got interesting? At points even frustrating. The start and end were too easy. Multiple levels in a row could be solved with the same rote solution at times.

The art and story concept are great. The writing could use a little work but I found it mostly charming and fun, the grammar/translation/editing needs another pass. The difficulty curve feels all over the place (it bears repeating).
