The game Dead Island wishes it was.
Insanely fun parkour, until you get Tic-Tac and then suddenly start dying a lot more.
Would highly recommend.

This is the game that Gone Home wishes it could've been.

I spent 11 minutes in heaven and I regret every one of those minutes.

Hopefully Hell will have a longer, more engaging experience.

Outlast 2 is an interesting game, in that there are a lot of improvements to the formula of the previous game, but a lot of stuff dragging the game down making it almost like a slog. Playing on hard, I managed to beat the game in about 6 and a half hours (removing time from when I left the game idle or looking at the notes I collected through the game). The game does start off strong, with you plummeted right into the thick of the action, and a nice introduction to the main environment of the game. Unfortunately, this effect does not manage to keep up in the last half of the game. Somewhere along the line they decided they wanted to switch up the formula from the last game, and have you constantly moving from place to place. While this does manage to keep the action exciting and sometimes horrific, the setting of the game takes a major hit, not leaving you much room to enjoy the environments the game has made.
Switching to the gameplay, it operates on the same level as the last game did, but with an overall bigger focus on running and hiding from your enemies. You still have moments where you record horrific moments happening throughout the levels, but you're gonna wanna keep moving throughout, leaving not much tim to explore for other hidden goodies that might be hiding.
The last thing I'll touch on is the ending, and keeping spoilers out of it, the ending doesn't feel satisfying at all, and leaves just a bit too many questions left unanswered. Mystery to an ending is good, but leaving all exposition to random notes you may not come across running from everything makes for an overall very confusing and unsatisfying ending.
On an experience level, Outlast 2 is definitely worth your time, even if it doesn't hit as hard as the first game may have done.
I give this a very light recommendation, and would only get this game if it goes on sale for 66% or more. $30 is a bit too much for just 6 hours.
