Edit:
They seem to have fixed these issues now and the game works, so I am changing my review to recommended. It's nothing revolutionary compared to previous games, but if you've been itching for more Hammerwatch, give it a shot.

Original:
I'd like to play and recommend the game, but I can't. Despite buying the game after 11 patches, the monsters don't move and the game crashes upon reaching the 1st boss.

Excellent puzzler that starts simple and expands on complexity at a perfect pace. You have a good amount of time to get used to the existing mechanics before adding a new layer. I tried the demo some months ago and knew it was a game I wanted to play once it was out.

Now that it is here I am more than happy with my experience thus far. It even has a dark mode, even though the screenshots don't showcase it.

What a curious thing. This incredible little game nails everything. It feels crazy that it's free. Yes it is a short roughly 1 hour game that you can go through in one session, but it's also one of the most artistically beautiful games with a fantastic soundtrack, while having polished topnotch platforming mechanics.

Part of me wonders if it is actually the fact that it is free, that allows it to remain so full of passion. This is an oddity and I fully recommend everyone plays it. You can even ignore the controller suggestion at the start, since it works perfectly fine with a keyboard too.

A lot of fun to explore and play through once, with a variety of different minigames. It tends to get pretty grindy if you're looking to do a 100% completionist run though, so I didn't bother with that.

The game has some decent puzzle design ideas, but lacks the polish needed to make those puzzles enjoyable. Some of the physics mechanics are too imprecise, janky, and buggy. You generally know what you need to do, but you struggle to get the game to do what you want. That's what made me stop and uninstall. It would have made me refund as well, if it wasn't for wasting a bunch of time trying to change the awful default FOV.

There are no FOV settings. Even the sound settings only have a master volume slider, so you are stuck with that monotone extremely repetitive "music". To change FOV you have to mess with .ini files. Some of the methods have also apparently been removed or changed over the course of the game being out, leaving a lot of the advice like opening console, outdated.

Here's what ended up working:
  • Start the game once and change some of the control settings, so that the game saves the changed settings and the related configuration file. Close the game and edit the following file:
  • Steam\steamapps\common\QUBE Directors Cut\QUBEGame\Config\QUBEGame.ini
  • At the end, you have a bunch of keybindings under the heading [Qube.QubePlayerInput]. As the last row of the file, add the following and change the 110 value is you want:
  • Bindings=(Name="F",Command="FOV 110",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
  • Save the file and start the game. Once playing, you press F to change your FOV. At every loading screen or level transition, you have to press F again as the FOV always resets.

Highly recommend for people who like Terraria. Core Keeper has a good mix of sandbox building, exploration, loot and bosses. It is a newer game so it doesn't have quite as much polish under the hood, but it is already in a really good place and has plenty to do. It works great in both solo and MP.

My full 1.0 playthrough on Hard difficulty, while getting all the achievements, took 147 hours, but for most people a playthrough will probably be between 50-100 hours. Then again you could also spend way more time just having fun building, as the world has tons of space for it.

Mod support is also highly appreciated, but I don't know how deep the modifications can go. I am not expecting Calamity-level massive modpacks anytime soon, if that's even plausible. Smaller mods like autofishing and regenerating ore boulders were quickly available and easily usable from the in-game mod browser though, which is great to see.

Some QoL things I would like to see added:
  • Proper quickstack to nearby chests. Currently you have to go one chest at a time and the amount of items the game has requires a lot of storage. The game has grown a lot, but the ability to deal with items has largely stayed the same.
  • Larger radius/distance for crafting stations to use items from chests.
  • Configurable lootfilters for autotrashing certain items you are picking up from the ground, or some type of dimensional storage that gathers all the extra (terraria void vault).
  • Ability to lock hotbar and inventory slots, so they ignore sorting and quickstacking etc.
  • Raise the crafting speed and/or add Terraria-style acceleration to it as you hold it down for a few seconds. Crafting hundreds and thousands of items takes frustratingly long currently.
  • While in a boat, allow using all tools. Why can't I use a shovel to remove ground or a hoe to till ground?
  • Make Bubble Crab bubble projectiles disappear faster, especially after the enemy is already killed. Standing still idling away for 5 seconds after every crab isn't fun.
From a content standpoint, I enjoyed playing a mage, but both magic and summons should get some love in future updates. Their item selections, especially weapons, are really lacking. Difficulty-wise Hard ended up being a good choice. Given my slow completionist style, I was well equipped to deal with everything. Just don't expect any hardmode-only items or the sort of separation that Terraria has.

I hope they keep building on the game in one form or another, because they have a good thing going and I would love to come back to it in the future.

Generally speaking I enjoy Apex, but recently I've been playing less and less. Here's why:
  • Duos was supposedly introduced as a permanent mode, yet they keep replacing it other modes every chance they get. Bring back duos and leave it alone.
  • For some reason normal BR pubs are the only mode that doesn't have a penalty for leaving the game. The game doesn't have duos, and it forces trios, yet when you play with randoms most people leave the second they are downed. So even when you play with a friend, most of the time after the first fight it turns into a 2vs3. That also negates some of my power as a support character, since banner crafting becomes largely meaningless. All of this is also assuming you even have a full team joining the game in the first place, which a lot of the time you don't.
  • As a Loba main, why is it that other people can access explosive hold items through my black market, destroying it in the process. Fix that. Right now I have to quickly grab items before anyone else gets a chance to use it. It's supposed to be an ult for the entire team.
  • The constant visual noise of bang smoke, cat walls, caustic gas etc. combined with scanning characters, makes for a poor play experience and an even worse viewing experience.
  • Abilities that either directly affect my ability to play my character (Seer silence), or just really lazy ability design like Revenant's "I press a key to have more HP than you wow", should be changed to something less annoying to play against.
  • Not a fan of mixtape map design that seems to always focus on one central point in an otherwise fairly large map.
Of course there is also the Battle Pass stuff, but I never cared about it in the first place. In fact I'd prefer to disable skins altogether, because it is becoming increasingly difficult to recognize a lot of the characters.

It's hard to recommend it when I can't even get sounds to work no matter what I try from the various threads online. Furthermore, even if the sounds were working, I would hesitate to accept the aggressive privacy policy that pulls and sells all your information.

Maybe I'll give it a try once the offline mode comes along and see if any of this has improved.

The main thing to know about The Planet Crafter, is that there is no hostile life or combat. It is more of a chill sandbox game where you gather resources, build your base, progress through the tech tree, and explore the map. It doesn't have any form of actual terrain modification outside of the buildings you add, but the cool part is the change that you see on the planet as you continue to terraform it. While I would likely enjoy the game more with other layers of challenge and creativity, I do think the fairly low pricepoint is its saving grace.
