The issue of Starfield is unapologetic mediocrity. It's a game that combines mediocre combat with mediocre stealth, mediocre roleplay with mediocre writing, and it's punctuated by loading screens and obtuse, dated, design.

BGS formula always aimed to deliver three pilars:
-exploration
-immersion
-freedom of action

Starfield, ironically, manages to completely ruin the exploration. Whereas Skyrim and Fallout forced you to walk from point A to point B at least the first time, thus facilitating exploration, Starfield forces you to land at marked spot and then run a bit to your destination, thus killing any idea of free exploration. Yes, I could run around the area, but I landed on this planet in this corner of the universe to do something, and by the time I land I already covered 99% of the distance. What sort of organic exploration can this allow?

Immersion comes from technical and artistic side. Yes, awkward animations suck. Reading what happened to Earth through several logs in the best tradition 1990s gaming takes you out of the experience. Loading screens take you out of the experience. 20 different temples that are all the same and repeating POI also take you out of the experience.

Lastly, freedom. Starfield offers a comprehensive selection of mediocre quests, so in that sense it offers freedom. Choice tho? Nah, it's not Cyberpunk or Deus Ex.

Satisfying as only From Software games can be. Unlike Dark Souls, Sekiro, much like Bloodborne, rewards aggressive playstyle, which makes for a fast paced and involved experience.
