A game that brings an eerily human emotional realism to it's fantasy setting of monsters, mages and all types of races.

Also shines a light on the prejudices spread by humankind and poses the idea that we must act sooner rather than later to look more inwards towards our own actions before judging those we perceive as 'different' than us and subsequently labelling as 'less' than us.

Bugs and gameplay aside, this is a story worth telling to as many people as possible. An epic tale that humbles as much as it excites and is sure to leave a lasting mark on any that experience it's greatness.

Then Cyberpunk happened...

...Thank ♥♥♥♥ for The Witcher Series. At least we have you.

If there is one game that defines 2020. It's Death Stranding.

I mean, the parallels drawn, even if this was released November 2019 originally. I still find it quite amazing how such a game, about isolation, re-connection in a fractured world...could have arrived so close to the happening of our own little dystopian nightmare.

I already loved Hideo after his visionary work with the Metal Gear/Solid series and how they were influenced so much by his love of other media such as films and music from a time way before Gen Z came around.

But after Death Stranding, either that man can tell the future, or he's just got a knack for creating the weirdest worlds that offer some of the largest and most in-depth insights into our human condition. I'm inclined to agree more with the latter.

But that's just it. Hideo Kojima is human (not a gaming deity like some probably believe xD) and he made it his mission to explore the human condition in such a way that he can make it engaging, interesting, weird as ♥♥♥♥...all to show us, maybe we're missing something here, we're looking to quickly at things and throwing the answers away without even taking a second glance.

Death Stranding is just another game in his repertoire that shows us, being human is a lot more complicated and exciting than it appears. Even though the big set disasters and explosions are cool as ♥♥♥♥, Hideo knows that like most things, to get to the real humanity of the situation, is to have a decent conversation/debate and above all else, the time and space to internalize these teachings.

Why do you think all of his games (joking a bit here but you get the point) are 90% cutscenes. He is an existential director. Hideo deals in the currency of human emotion, and he deals it out so well.

After what we've all been through in 2020, this game is the closest we'll get to an everlasting reminder of what feelings a lot of us went through during that time.

Hideo...I doubt you meant for this all to tie together so well, but I sure as hell appreciate this game a lot more even before completing it.

This isn't really a review on gameplay but on why Death Stranding is a game for anyone who want's to look deeper into their world and themselves.

If you're mature in mind, then you will understand everything I've just said and this game is most certainly for you. I guess it also has nice horror themes too, if you're into that.

Now I'm going to finish this story. I can't wait to see how it unfolds and what lessons it teaches me.

Thank you Hideo, the world needs weirdos like you. Now, more than ever.

Co-op multiplayer conquest of feudal Japan, sold.

Got it for free, but if you feel you'll actually give this game a chance (maybe with a friend or two, eh?) it's worth £20 or so definitely.

To be put simply, its borderlands that looks sharper and seems to take itself more seriously. Both are different styles of games artistically wise, but are essentially looter shooters all the same. Good game, plenty of content and grinding await you if you decide to install. Oh yeah, it's also free. What the f*** are you doing reading this, try it out for yourself.

*Edit November 2021* Still a gift that keeps on giving. F**k yeah, redemption feels good.

*Edit*
No Man's Sky has come a long way. As of their Origins update (September 2020) The game is what it promised to be and more. Hello Games did it. 4 years, and alot of hard work I couldn't even comprehend (possibly due to lack of coffee right now) but the transformation was amazing and has been seen as a legendary transformation in the gaming world. Name me a game that's turned around as much as No Man's Sky...

...and I'll probably play that too then I guess.

But my point is, If you don't believe in redemption stories, well, you better start believing, you're looking at one.

THANKS HELLO GAMES!

(Warning, possible buyers remorse ahead...maybe?)

***I heard it called a 'Zen Simulator.' This is correct. So is 'Zen Survival-ish Simulator-kinda.' That's just my take after 80+ hours. Let me know if I'm wrong (don't).

Also, looking forward to new features that will be added to the game in the coming months. (I still remember the promises made during development so I'm watching, quietly).

Conclusion: I may have paid full price but what is money really anyways?
That translates to, essentially, the game was worth it for me. If you were curious.

Enjoy, or not, not my concern. But if you're the type of person who likes to get lost in their games, beware, because you will lose alot of time here and I just hope for your sake you're not the fickle type who moans about time 'wasted.'

Maybe one day I may actually be able to see some of you 'ingame.' Until then...

Grand Theft Auto V. What can I say,

6 and a half years later after Rockstars stellar GTA IV, comes the perfect amalgamation of modern American satire; vigorously mixed with the tension between 2 sexually frustrated (sort of?) white dudes (clearly) with a history of crime and a token black guy who's best friend can't stop saying n1gga.

10/10 would base jump off a building, land on a UFO, hitch a ride, get probed then fly to my aunt's house and smoke a fat joint...or did that happen the other way around??

*Edit*

When will this nightmare end?!
