The MTX are pretty egregious. No you don't have to spend any money but you will look pretty terrible without it. The gameplay is fine if a bit dated. It seems the developers took some good ideas like the hub setup from Monster Hunter World but kind of half baked everything. The graphics are ok, again a bit dated but fine (add ultrawide support....its 2022).

I can see a good game somewhere in here but after the terrible launch, not being able to get a group in the 3 hours I played at all and the battle pass/microtransaction store, I have a hard time feeling like they don't want my money more than my time. It makes me want to actively avoid spending money in the store rather than having fun enough to drop some money on some cosmetics.

I got it for $30 and after playing it for a bit I still think its overpriced. This should end up on gamepass or PS Plus to get the playerbase up and maybe at least have some discount rotating cosmetics in order to keep me playing.

Lvl 29, game is good but port is terrible (not unusual for From). I'm using flawless widescreen to get the image to 5120x1440p (no UW support) but this flags their anti-cheat system meaning I can't play online. Between that and the 60 fps cap which I fall below more than I should on a 5800x/6800xt rig.

Once they fix the PC port I'll change the review but if you have another place to play this game do it there until they fix this version.

But it....twice

Q times have been better in the last 48 hours, still not great. Once you can get in the game is fun and it's pulling me in to that "thinking about playing when I'm not playing" mentality that I want from an MMO. Hopefully server login times get ironed out sooner rather than later so I can enjoy the game more. As it stands I have to make sure I join the Q an hour or two before I'm actually going to play. I know some servers are way worse and some are better but this is my experience currently.

Just finished the game, awesome experience. Never could get drawn into any of the Dishonored games and couldn't finish Prey even though that game should have been right up my alley. Deathloop I couldn't put down, loved playing every minute of it! Highly recommend and feel like this is going to be a lot of critics GOTY.

Waste of money for me, I can see enjoyment for people that don't mind the responsiveness and videos look great but playing it just feels bad.

Love the game, haven't been able to put it down. The loot and gear setup endgame is fun to me. My really only complaint is that the endgame runs are timed which causes all players to chase the highest dps build to ensure gold tier rewards rather than promoting build diversity and experimentation. There are some great skill trees and interesting mods on gear that can create some really unique builds but if they aren't the "balls to the wall" highest dps builds in the game you are discouraged from using them. I would much rather try a tank or support build on any of my max characters rather than the cookie-cutter dps builds but with the timers it isn't feasible.

That one gripe is something I hope they will address in the future. The developers seem to be responsive and willing to evolve the game but how long these changes could take might be a turn off for some. If you like these types of games, I recommend this one for sure. Even if you aren't a fan of the endgame, there is plenty of content until you get to endgame to be worth the price to me.

It's Pre-CU SWG. If you know what that means and it brings back great memories, buy this game :D
