Helldiver + Muffdiver =Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.

Early Access Review
I am very impressed with this game. Its worth FAR MORE THAN $24.99.

It fills the following niches;

* Open World; My god, its HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE
* Crafting; HUGE crafting tree with tiers of upgrades
* building; you can build some very impressive homes, castles, towns, etc
* survival; oh yes, food, health, temperature, shelter
* lore/gameplay; significant effort put into crafting a unique yet familiar world
* social gameplay; up to 6 fellow gamers ; open, locked and public worlds

* log into any world you want to at any time with any of your characters and carry stuff between worlds
* Use a world as a home base, while hunting, gathering, fight in, in other worlds
* up to 6 friends can co-op play with you, you can join their worlds, they yours - carry stuff between

I was hooked almost from the beginning. Your clumsy character makes you think the game is clumsy, no, you are just a noob and need to train up. get to work, make an axe, and then hunt down everything in sight.

You can make a world, and keep it just to live on, and even lock yourself in the centre of a castle, and when you want to play the game, go into any world you want to, or make a new one, gather stuff there, complete your store there, and use your home world as a storehouse and life raft. You can logout at any time, and what you do in one world can be carried to the next both as items, and as experience.

Its been a long time since I was impressed enough to say the following about a game:

You'd be a fool to pass this game up.

BUY IT NOW!

This sucks, because this should have been Hunt's best update. This should have been the game moving forward, getting a fresh influx of players.

The UI is the most baffling UX I've every had. I'm confused at every turn. Every change makes no sense.

Why can I press X to access my loadouts on the roster screen, but I can't on the hunter details screen ?!

Why are "normal ammo" an icon, but special ammo an image of the bullet. (which is impossible to distinguish.)

Why is the after-match detail a blown out version of itself ? Why do I need to scroll to see the info I want?!

Why is the "damage report" screen now a massive blown out horizontal scroll (therefore, I can't use my scrollbar) rather than a list?

Why is the "play hunt" button not a tab on the top of the screen? The most important space to go to?

Why is the landing page of the game "news" rather than play?

Why can't I see my loadout on the "play" screen ?!

Why are equipment rarity now covering up the equipment in the loadout and making it harder to see?

Why chosing a skin a sub-menu and a different windows away, rather than just a click-scroll ? They CHANGED that a few updates ago and that was genuinely a great change.

Why is the in-game escape/setting menu looking just as trash?!

None of those changes make sense. and I can't interact with the game without being reminded of it, every screen outside of the gameplay is irritating and frustrating.

Definitely not the masterpiece mass media is making out, and I would consider my stance on MGS to be nearing the fanboy's perspective.

End of the day, the question has to be asked; what does the now open-world gameplay achieve? And the answer is - not a whole lot. The freedom of exploration excuse doesn't really work, as it's just not fused into the core game as a necessary device other than the developers implying; "This is how real the game is now."

In free roam, there's literally bugger all else to achieve except drive to mission start points and possibly parachute an Afghan goat into the air and do a bit of weeding en route. It lacks any of the real side distractions offered in open world games, and what's more the integration between Motherbase -> ACC -> Open World is just infruiatingly slow and tedious. The development tree is lacking in any meaningful variation between weapons. 75% of the game will be spent with the tranq gun anyway, until you can get a silencer on that tranq sniper, as killing enemies just hampers leveling up the MB. But the worst part is there is just no punishment for players not going the stealth route. You can go in all guns blazing and the AI won't really counter it until the endgame when they have better armor. And you don't feel tied to using stealth to knock-out soldiers, because you can just utlize the rifles with rubber bullets to knockout soldiers and acquire them.

In short, this game is basically Peace Walker with an open world that doesn't really have anything going for it.
