I first installed the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth back in 2014. Since then I've been playing it on and off again for years. Slowly chipping away at the content until finally, in 2018, I unlocked all of the achievements... all 403 of them (at the time of writing this review).

I feel that now I have enough perspective of the game of write a proper review, because after all, this is a game that can't really be judged after after playing for 10 hours, or even 100 hours. It's really something you have to take your time with.

So I won't waste any more of your time. You just want to know one thing. Is this game good? Yeah. It's damn good. It's additing is what it is. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better rouge-like dungeon crawler. This game is about an inch wide, but a mile deep; there is so much to do it will boggle your mind, even if on the surface you are just doing repeating dungeons over and over. But believe me, on each restart, the game expands, little by little.

This game is difficult to learn and easy to master. Get ready to spend half your playtime on the wiki, researching literally hundreds of items, each with their own potential synergies and value. And the other half dying. But after a while, everything will just click, and you will be able to play this game in your sleep, or in my case, mindlessly playing it while watching podcasts on my second screen. In fact I personally endorse this game as the #1 youtube-watching game to play.

The gameplay is what makes this game work, it's just so smooth. The top-down twin-stick shooting is unbelieveable responsive. After you start to learn enemy attack patterns, you can dodge bullets with ease like freakin Neo, whilst dishing out your own attacks. A big chunck of this game isn't even combat, but rather constant desicion making. You'll have to carefully manage your resources to open secret rooms and locked doors. And believe me, making those choices don't get any easier after 600 hours.

Don't even get me started on the narrative. This game is on the Five Nights at Freddies side of story, where nothing is outright said, and everything is hidden in the subtext. But what a story it is. You could write a thesis on how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this game really is, and I love it. I mean, who ever thought going inside your mothers womb and killing an unborn fetus would be so much fun?

On the technical side, this game is up there with Valve with how much they must have play tested this game. The attention to detail is insane. The fact that I can charge up a beam attack on one floor, go through to the next level, and have that attack still be charged is crazy. Everything feels so smooth and intuitive. If you ever die in the game, you will rarely feel like its the games fault.

I guess I should mention the soundtrack too. It's amazing, and has really catchy songs. But honestly, I muted this game a long time ago. It's really not a game you need to have sound on, which is why it's so perfect for youtube watching. So go ahead and play this game while you're watching videos online, Netflix or listening to music.

But I suppose I should stop rambling, nobody really reads long reviews anyway right? I suppose that writing this is a little cathartic for me, almost like writing a eulogy. Because, like I said I've been playing this game since 2014. And in these 4 years this game has been my rock; the game I can always fall back on or play whenever I've got nothing else to do. And now that I've done everything there is to do, and I have no more reason to play it, it almost feels like an old friend has died. And when a developer can make a player feel like they are going through grief just because they beat their game, they have to be doing something right.

In conclusion/TL;DR, This game is fantastic. I really can't think of many bad things to say about it. It may be difficult to learn at first, but once you get over the initial hump, this game offers you an unparalleled dungeon crawling experience. With great gameplay, story and mechanics, you can't go wrong. If you like rouge-likes, I strongly recommend you buy this game.

While this game had a cool atmosphere and clearly had a lot of love put into it, it wasn't a game for me. The plot felt a little contrived, Rutger Hauer sounded like he just took a whole bottle of Valium and **spoilers** the main antagonist of this futuristic cyber punk game is a werewolf :-| It had a few good creepy moments but in the end the horror elements were a bit of a headache.

I suggest watching a youtube playthrough of this game, unless you really like cyberpunk horror walking sims.

My name isn't Max, but trying to 100% this game sure made me mad. It is NOT worth grinding to get all achievements, considering the final achievement is BUGGED and did not trigger, making everything I did it all for nothing.

Just blast through the story missions and never touch again.

When I saw this game, I thought it was another generic Steam RPG, you know the kind. But my friend convinced me to buy it so we could play co-op and hot damn, was it a good time.

The environments are interesting and varied, with lots of places to explore with lots of side quests.

The addition of voice acting was a huge plus, it would have been such a pain to read all the dialogue.

The combat is especially choice, turn based combat much like Fallout 1 & 2. There are some really challenging areas. However, you can find that beating a high level dungeon can make you overpowered for the next area. We blew through the second half of the game because we were unstoppable gods, with little providing as difficult a challenge as the first half of the game did.

TL;DR The game is worth it, providing you have a friend to play co-op with.

Worth it for the ending alone. Enough said. Maybe wait for it to be on sale though...

This game was very surprising; I didn't pre-order the game nor did I subscribe to any of the hype, but I found myself enjoying this game so thoroughly that I ended up playing the game 4 times over and getting all the achievements.

Keep that in mind when reading this review; I played it 4 times and 100%'ed the achievements, and I still only have 35 hours of playtime at the time of writing this review. It is by no means a long game, and you may feel retail price is a bit steep for the hours per dollar. But it comes with the territory of story based games. It isn't long, but with the time it has the game is jammed packed with chills, thrills and topless hillbillies galore.

The story is captivating, the characters are facinating and colourful, the combat (yes there is combat) is intense and thrilling, each fight feels like it could be your last if you're not careful, and the environment, the evil residence if you will is fun to explore and will make you feel like you're back in the RE1 mansion.

The game however is not without it flaws, mainly in the technical department but in some gameplay areas too. Even on my high end gaming PC, the game constantly suffered lag issues, where if left unchecked could even result in freezing. You'll need to turn several graphical settings off or down to try to compensate, but even that is sometimes not enough. I found myself having to quit to menu and reload my save every 20 minutes, as it felt like playing for too long was too big of a load for the game to carry.

The lag issues would also effect the audio of the game, where sometimes the game would freeze entering cutscenes, causing audio and video to de-sync, which pulled me out of my immersion pretty hard. The problems are frequent enough for me to question the quality of the port, as this game was clearly made for console. But it wasn't bad enough to stop me playing.

The hardest difficulty, "Madhouse" (not to be confused with Bart's friend "Milhouse") played closer to the orginal RE1, with limited saves and harder enemies, but I felt that if you where even marginally careful, save items felt plentiful (I finished the game with 10 left) and enemies could be dispatched fairly easily too. The puzzles also felt quite lackluster. Nothing like the puzzles in RE1. There was only one stage where it was a little bit hard but it didn't take long to work it out. The rest of the puzzles are akin to childrens brain games.

In conclusion it was refreshing to see a Resident Evil title be so compitent, Capcom too a big risk making this game, especially since their last few titles have been less than stellar, but I feel that Resident Evil 7 has passed the grade with flying colours and I can't wait for some DLC. If you're a fan of horror, first person action and story based narratives definetly check this game out!

PROS:

-Great story
-Colourful charcters
-Engaging combat
-Legitimate scares
-Photorealistic "P.T." style graphics
-Interesting locals
-Quick to play for those who are time pressured

CONS:

-Frequent lagging and freezing issues
-Audio syncing problems
-Hardest difficulty is still pretty forgiving
-Brainless "puzzles"
-Nobody says "you were almost a Jill sandwich!"

Yeah I know I don't have a lot of playtime, but I had to refund this game. It just feels too big to get into. You really are expected to spend hours and hours building toilet stalls, and with the building tools they give you i dont know if it is that fun.

A fun, accessible, bite sized "RPG" with a creative concept and a beautiful artstyle. I would say don't play for the gameplay, it's basically a 'Fisher-Price: Babies first turn based combat system'. There's actually more strategy in trying to not win a battle, as the game makes it extremely easy for you. Instead, play the game for it's hilariously written story and enjoyable feel. A great way to blow off some steam.

Fallout 4 is a mixed bag.

When I first heard about Fallout 4 coming out I was ecstatic. Every new trailer and press release brought me so much joy. I waited for quite some time for it to come out, and when it did I was glued to it.

The intro to the game was amazing; incredibly detailed, lots of beautiful assets where made ( many of which were only used in this intro) and the robot even says your name, how fun. The proceeding 10 or so hours are quite fun and engaging, as most Bethesda games are. It's heavily scripted, you meet lots of new characters and it's a good challenge.

You get intoduced to crafting settlements, which can be a nice distraction from the main game but it is by no means nessesary in a game like this. It's a mechanic that's thinly veiled as a fun new feature but it's obvious that Bethesda wanted to tap into the niche Minecraft 'craft anything you want' market.

Eventually the game decides it's done chaperoning and you will find that you can make your own choices about how you play the game. I found that this lack of direction or urgency made me fairly slow. I just kind of walked around, looking at things, for over 200 hours. And believe me, when you play for 200 hours the shine wears off. You notice the many imperfections in the game. I grew sort of cynical, I resented my companions for their terrible ai, grew impatient at having to wait for computers to open doors and everything just kind of became a blur.

Don't even get me started on the ending. No spoiler warnings but you can definetly tell that the developers only spent time of the things you'd see at E3. Not a lot of thought or time was put into the things that you actually work for, and it's a pretty big letdown, I'm not going to lie.

I suppose because I'm such a big fan of the franchise, and because I can look past certain discrepancies, I was able to endure the 200+ hours of gameplay and 100% the achievments. But should a game be endured? Shoudln't I be having fun all the way through? Well to do that, the developers would have needed a lot more time.

In conclusion, I would compare Fallout 4 to a 20 ounce steak; the menu made it look so appetising, and the first few bites are delicious, but as you keep going you begin to realise that there isn't going to much change of flavour, and you've got 17 ounces to go. In the end you sit there, exhausted, wondering if it was worth the effort.

TL;DR ~ read the first line
