Failed Matchmaking

I dont like the art, the music, the sfx or the gameplay, but my social group has run out of games to play together.

From a gathering perspective; its okay. Chop tree, skill bar go up. Turn tree pieces into wood. Make stuff. Same with mining but its ore and metals. Predetermined spawns for ore makes it kinda dull after a few hours tho. The PvE combat feels very floaty and ice skatey. Didn't try PvP as that doesn't interest me, but that seems to be the be all end all with PvE context being second place. Theres also a house system but I didn't experience it. Got the game for half off. I can't recommend it unless you wanna gather and even then, theres better games for that.

Absolutely fantastic game. Skyrim modders will be trying to emulate its magic/combat system for years to come I'm sure.

As a PC port, its pretty standard. Ok visual options, support for most controller icons, steam support. Everything you expect in a adequate Steam release now a days. The problems I have with this game aren't technical. Its the same problem Persona 3 Portable has always had. There's no FES additional story. There's no 3D environments except in Tartarus. There's no anime cutscenes. Everything looks like it uses textures designed for the PSP (because they are, tho they are upscaled okay-ish here, it'll never look perfect since you're working with something so small res). You can't control your party members.

Listen, if you've been around P3, you've heard all of this before. If any of that matters to you, you've probably already emulated either the PSP version or FES for the PS2, so why should you pick this up? Nostalgia or flaunting how much you like P3 on your Steam profile. If thats worth $27.99 CAD to you (it is to me) then go right ahead. If not, wait for a sale. And if it that's not even worth your dollar, then just emulate it. No ones forcing you to buy this. Will buying it make Atlus invest into a P3 remake that combines elements of FES and Portable into the ultimate P3 experience? Hell no, that has NEVER convinced game companies. You know what probably does? Stock investments in publicly traded companies. So if you have more money then sense, invest in SEGA and complain to them directly that investing in a P3remake is beneficial for share holders. Then they'll do it. Probably.

I can never in good concession 'recommend' a call of duty at launch simply cause I believe Activision being Activision hurts the industry as a whole, theres no excuse for the raise in price of the base game, and DLC or the over reliance of microtransactions. So why'd I buy it? Cause its like smoking. Now I'm not smoking a pack a day (or buying CoD every year), but I do get the occasional craving for one and this is just me satisfying that craving. Anyways onto the more standard review:

Gameplay wise, this plays fine. It feels like Call of Duty, it looks like Call of Duty. For PC Versions of AAA games, they did a great job with all the video options and the ability to rebind almost everything. Ive had two crashes, both times were when I was just exiting out, so I dont mind that. I've encountered a few UI bugs, like clicking while alttab'd also clicks in game, or flickering UI elements. Ive also noticed some flickering shadows ingame. Nothing thats a huge eye sore or that causes me discomfort. The only major visual bug I've seen is anything that has Neon lights floods the entire screen with its glow when looking at it. This only seems to happen in Ground War maps but I think thats cause theres no Neon lights in the smaller maps.

Overall, if you like Call of Duty, then I can recommend the PC version of the game. What I can't recommend is that, without a discount, it cost me $100 CAD, thats without the season pass. Sure you could wait for a sale, but CoD's are notorious for not going on a decent sale until years later, and by then a large chunk of people have moved on. And CoD, like Dark Souls, isn't quite the same if its not the launch window. At least in my opinion.
