The style might not be for everyone but I like it. I enjoy the different tier racing so I can enjoy a wider variety of cars and different strategies at different speeds. It's a step in the right direction for Need for Speed. There's room for improvement, but it's a good path.

Dear Ubisoft,

Stop reminding me that I don't have 3 friends that want to play a game with me at all times. Sometimes I want to be able to play a game alone without the bullet sponging AI destroying me every time I walk into a room. PS, your end game meta sucks. Learn how to make a good looter shooter. Making an enemy able to walk up to you while taking 200 bullets to the head is not making something more challenging, it is just annoying. I don't even want to bother with The Division 2 because you probably won't change anything. Way to make another bad game Ubisoft.

For a modern Need for Speed game, it's pretty good. The car selection is on par for NFS, lot's of tuners, muscles, and exotics though I think the missed a few favorites. The music is not great but not awful. Nothing really stands out as a song I like, but everything fits Heat's style.

And I would say that is the one thing Heat has really going for it. The style and atmosphere draws me in. The night scene with the neon lights and street racing theme works really well, and the day time semi legitimate, no traffic racing works.

The customization is also on par for NFS, but I am glad that they removed loot crates so things like neon and tire smoke are easier to customize. Also the ability to swap engines and mess with the exhaust sound is great.

Overall, one of the better Need for Speed games over the past decade or so in my opinion.

I was looking forward to this game but after playing it, I am very disappointed. The game relies too much on physics when the physics in the game are too janky and annoying and sometimes broken. Nothing feels smooth or user friendly, and the story goes on and on with too many blank spots for slow and boring puzzles with very brief and basic combat. Also I don't really care for it giving you so many things to collect, but only like 5 pockets to use for weapons and collectables.

The game hates friendship and the players are cancer.

Nothing is affordable without micro-transactions.

While there is a lot of great points about this game, there are also a large number of grievances I have with things that keep it from being a great experience. I have put a lot of hours in this game, most of them good, some of them really bad, giving me alot to say about this game.

The base game is pretty solid overall. There is always something to do, from missions, to police chases, skill challenges, exploration, daily, weekly, and monthly challenges, or even just driving around in a wide variety of cars, off-road and on road to pass the time. This can add up to countless hours of playtime. The difficulty can vary for every even, with the AI sometimes feeling to be a bit too rubber banded and sloppy, bumping into you or walls or traffic, then catching right back up like its nothing. It also seems like the AI cars don't have to worry about losing traction in rain or snow, making it difficult to compete with them at times. There are plenty of unlockable parts and customization options for each car. It does feel like there is a little something for everyone, from people who enjoy rally driving or street racing, even some circuit tracks, although the handling is not really set up for the most hard core races. There is no real performance tuning, just unlocking better performance parts and applying them to your car. But this does keep the game fun and loose, being able to swing cars around city corners without the game punishing me for letting the back end hang out.

The game does look very pretty, although maybe not as beautiful as other games that put more attention to detail. The cars do look good, and the scenery can be breathtaking at times, and makes for a nice background while racing through cities or crossing desert highways. There is a full day night cycle, as well as weather affects like rain or snow in the mountains. This does give the game a chance to look very pretty, along with the amazing scenery of a scaled down version of the United States. It is slightly annoying that you have no control over them, such as it raining when you are trying to test a car on a track, or it becoming night in an area that is very poorly lit and hard to see. But this can easily be dealt with by leaving to another location, or waiting for some time to pass.

Player interaction can be a big part of this game, although for the most part you can try to ignore it if you chose. You will always be connected online to the game, and random player can join you in free drive whenever, which can lead to interesting interactions. You can do mission by yourself, or choose to invite other either at random or from Uplay friends. PVP is also pretty simplistic, putting you in a lobby with other players where you select the game mode, track, and vehicle spec, and one players chose is randomly picked for everyone to play. You will receive a pretty good sized reward of credits, exp, and faction points just for playing, but the better you do, the bigger the reward. You can also move up ranks, but those are mostly just for bragging rights. On the larger scale of online interactions, you have factions, where every player picks a team and builds up their teams points over the course of a month through PVP and faction missions. The more points you help your team earn, the bigger daily credit reward you get. At the end of the month, the faction with the most point unlocks special events that give out larger credit rewards, so its good to do though. Although for the most part, on PC, I have really only ever seen the starting faction win most months, so it doesn't seem like too many people are interesting in changing factions, since there is no real point to changing or competing with other factions.

The Wild Run DLC is pretty enjoyable. The new vehicle modes, Monster, Drift, and Drag add new experiences to the game, although I wish they were easier to receive. You can either pay a large chunk of money to modify one car, or spend countless hours doing summit events to build up to one. They are also available as a reward for ranking in the summit, but they are only completed every few days, and there is no guaranty you will get what you want. But the game play of the summit events is enjoyable. The monster truck arenas are fun and different, and can be visited outside of the events. Drift cars feel sweet to slide around in, and the drag events feel challenging to try to beat your best time over and over again, but it is simple enough that is very fun to keep doing. The addition of more attention to competing on a global stage is also a good touch. You can see how you rank and either just get a good judge of your skill level, or continue competing to see if you can better yourself and move up the leader board, making the game more re-playable.

The Calling All Units DLC is where most of the flaws really show. It adds the ability to play as a police chaser, busting street racers and buying new cars that look interesting with police decals and lights, but that is really the only nice new thing added. The PVP aspect feels uneven. There is no call for runners and chasers to bring the same car, so a chaser can easily catch up to a runner and stick with them with ease if they bring a circuit car while the runner has a street car. As well, the runner cannot switch cars, where the chaser can, so if the runner has to begin off road in a Raid car and then is trapped on a highway bridge, the chaser can easily switch to something faster on the streets and catch them. Then there are the power ups, which feel completely out of place for the gameplay. They feel far to powerful, being able to blind your chaser for a few seconds, or force a runner to steer completely to the side while driving at 150+mph, often throwing them into a dead stop at a wall, or miles off the rode on a turn. It feels far to cheap and easy, especially since they happen with no warning at all to either driver to try to prepare or counter each other, removing some of the skill aspect. There can also be team mates on both sides, but friendly runners often don't feel like they have much to offer other than more power up uses. They can sometimes get in your way, and there is no way to kick them. As well, if you are constantly being bullied by the same chaser that is constantly joining your game every time you restart, it is difficult to get away from them without having to leave to some other menu or exiting part of the game. Even other players are not in the game with you, the chases can range from enjoyable to frustrating very quickly. While dodging roadblocks and outrunning the cops is fun and exciting, the NPCs can become far too aggressive sometimes, ruining the experience. They can quickly rubber band to you and surround you, and it feels like no matter how hard I ram them, they don't budge, and they can toss you about the road with ease. They will also sometimes stick to you like glue. When you slam on the brakes to try to take a sharp turn, instead of them being caught by surprise, they slow down right beside to you and stay with you no matter what. Even on snowy roads or in the rain, while I try to deal with some loss of traction, they move as if the laws of physics don't apply to them and they can do whatever they want. The whole aspect of the Calling All Units DLC feels very poorly put together, like it was not playtested at all and just released for a profit with many parts feeling broken.

Until all of these issues are fixed, or at least acknowledged that they might try to fix them, I can not recommend this game unless you are willing to forgive all of these things. I've spent a lot of hours playing this game, most of them great, but the parts that are bad are just really bad. It is a one of a kind game that has its moments and can bring hours of enjoyment, but I feel that it does not live up to its full potential and can be absurdly frustrating at times.

its a game that plays on your paranoia. if you go into it thinking "this is lame and not scary" then you arnt going to have fun with it and you probably shouldnt buy it. but if you enjoy that feeling of terror and impending doom making you shake until you jump out your seat, then this is the horror game for you. the simplistic design does a good job of creating a spooky environment with what little resources it uses, and i think that separates it from other horror games. it doesnt have alot of replay value, so you once youve completed it theres not much to do with it except maybe share it with your friends and watch them scream for your amusement. being so cheap i think its well worth the asking price for the experience.

in short, its like a really good horror movie that youve wanted to see for a long time. then you see it and its really really good. but then when you go to watch it again you already kind of know whats going to happen. i would still highly recommend it.
