Played it at release in early 2018, and now my second playthrough again in early 2025 and the game still holds up incredibly well.

Early Access Review
Best ARPG out there. I'd say PoE2 beats D4 in almost every way.

Best atmosphere and storytelling in a game ever so far. The writing is great, sense of choice is real and the world building and character development are amazing. Graphics are superb (RTX porn) and basically 0 loading screens except when fast travelling.

Shooting and melee is alright but they both really lack some 'oomph'. Whenever you shoot, slash, it feels very hollow the way the first-person camera animates, I wish it was a bit more like Battlefield or CoD in that sense.

Hacking computers and containers for access gets boring really fast but it's just a tiny minigame like any other RPG with lockpicking. But into hacking devices such as the camera network, turrets, doors is really well done and opens up creative gameplay options in multiple areas.

Driving cars sometimes feels great and sometimes real bad. Some vehicles have such bad road traction that it literally feel like driving a pack of melting butter on the road, and the way vehicles get damaged is sub-par if you look how detailed they made other parts of the game. All vehicles have full 3d interiors though which is very immersive. When driving higher-end cars the driving gets better, and I would say that the car radio(great music), car interiors and Night City itself truly enhance your driving experience. It simply feels really cool to drive at high-speed through the city streets while electronic music is banging.

This game is worth getting just for the story alone. The main quest and Phantom Liberty expansion are both incredible, and I had a great time completing all of the side-quests as well.

Story wise the impressive game I’ve ever played. There will be huge amounts of content I never get to see because in this game choices truly matter so you’ll never get the same outcome

Great sequel in terms of gameplay, story-wise I would say it was equal to the original one.

Beautiful game, I wish I could see more of this world because the art style is absolutely gorgeous. I would pay for the game if I could since I enjoyed it so much. 10/10

If you like shooters that are a bit more serious than your usual triple-A FPS game you should really give this game a try. If you like the Arma games or have played any Red Orchestra(duh) game, this is a must play.

The game is very atmospheric and it plays like a hardcore shooter. There's Creedence Clearwater Revival music in the main menu and also subtle ambient music playing in-game which is mixed in well and doesn't interrupt you from hearing your enemies footsteps or anything. The uniforms of the soldiers are realistic and the game has a lot of 'battle-chatter' like swearing, screaming and taunting soldiers which results in an even better atmosphere.

Gameplay is balanced and all of the guns are very satisfying to use. All weapons have realistic handling, there's high recoil, firemodes, breath control and realistic ammo management. Shotguns have a realistic range and spread and are not completely useless after shooting further than 10 meters. Shooting LMG's for longer periods can cause it to overheat and can bend it's barrel. Most weapons that are larger than a pistol offer a 1 shot kill at any range if you hit the enemy in his torso or higher...

...the realistic guns make the game more slow-paced than most shooters, making the beginning of the game very hard newbies, you will die a lot without knowing where your enemy is. But when you get the hang of the guns, it's extremely rewarding to set up a flank and mow your enemies down with your M60 or RPD.

Overall, the game is very focused on teamwork which makes communication important, but makes playing with friends fun too. Along with the great atmosphere, realism and feeling of risk/reward the game has make it a suprisingly fun game to play. It's such an unique game that it's worth trying if you feel even the slightest bit attracted to it.
