Streets of Rage of the the modern age.

Devs, a co-op arcade mode would've been sick but single player is cool too.

Brilliant game, one of the best single-player FPS campaigns I've ever played. Playing on the highest difficulty makes the story and combat even more satisfying (and intense). I wish it was a bit longer though, as I still crave more.

Play EZ2 and skip EZ1, unless you're a Half-Life completionist. You won't be missing any of the story, apart from the ending where the soldier gets his memories extracted for future cloning by the Combine, but that's referenced in the second game anyway.

Apart from a few good reviews, I had no expectations going into this.

I cannot believe how good this game is.

The story, gameplay, gunplay, AI (both the Combine and enemies), art direction, voice acting, music and sound effects -- I did not expect this level of quality. You will be surprised, too.

For years, I've been chasing that feeling of playing something like HL2, Portal, or Halo CE for the first time again, and this game, incredibly, delivered.

Oh, and you don't have to play the first game to enjoy EZ2, as you won't be missing any of the story.
Unlike this masterpiece, EZ1 feels like a mod, although a very good one. I say, skip it the first game, unless you're a Half-Life completionist.

Needs battle royal mode but great otherwise

If you don't know about this game and you're about to play it, I envy you.

EDIT: Just finished it. If there's one single player game I ever recommend, this is it.

The Forest but it's Fortnite.

It's definitely not the worst shooter ever.

A cannibal silently creeped up on our camp fire. He screamed only when he jumped into the light. I pooped my pants. 10/10

Forget the performance issues. I can't even turn off the flashing combat hints above enemy players -- even on hard difficulty -- bye bye immersion! Just watch a playthrough if you want to know the story.
