The amount of times I wanted to just put this book down and quit... It was a mix of depressing and boring. The book started off being about these two sisters who had lost their brother when they were children, after this incident their mother had left without so much as a word. Interesting, I thought, I mean I read the back of the book before I bought it and it did attract me. The story started off pretty depressing, but still somewhat interesting. Then halfway through the book the main storyline seemed to change into this boring story about the school Alice works at maybe having to shut down. In the end what the book was supposed to be about seems to get quickly finished off in a very disappointing manner, making me wish I really had put the book down the first time the thought crossed my mind. Another thing really annoying about the book was it was split up into three narrators, each of the two sisters and the brother who died (obviously these parts were from the past). Alice is written for first person perspective, Jeremy (the brother) is written in third person and I'm guessing to be arty-farty, or interesting or something, the author decided to write Louise's parts in second person, which honestly just does not work. She was talking about "you", so as if you are Louise. It was very annoying, it may be an interesting way to write if you do it in the right way, if it fits, but here it just didn't and was only another annoyance to add to the very many I had about this book. I really wish I put it down because it just wasn't worth the read at all. I could have been reading a good book instead!
