There's so much here. It can be relaxing, it can be active, it can just be just about building. And there's always something new.

Play it with a controller on the biggest screen you have, projected onto a wall if possible.

Phenomenal. Best art/gaming experience since The Stanley Parable. The puzzles and gameplay are pitched just right, and are just difficult enough that you get a sense of satisfaction from figuring them out, but that they don't keep you going over and over again the same thing.

The visuals, animation and sound and cinematic direction are just honed to as close to perfection as I've seen. Seriously.

As for the narrative, if you need to know everything that's going on and have it spelled out, this is not for you. But if you appreciate being able to see a small glimpse into a broken world then you would have to look very hard to beat this.

Stunning.

I must admit I was a little cautious about the new canon for this game coming from Xcom:EU but now it looks like a stroke of genius. You get to stay rooted in earth based tech at the beginning and the path of discovery that is the core of the game is still intact but with new gear and new takes on familiar enemies.

Apart from quality of life changes such as the LoS indicator when previewing move positions, buttons to make gear and weapons available when equipping soldiers pre-mission etc, there are also new mechanics such as the concealment system allowing you to start a mission on your terms (usually). The soldier customisation is back and extensively expanded along with upgraded stylised graphics that really bring you into the dystopian version of earth in the not too distant future.

The mission timers that most missions have are not to everyone's tastes but you can mod them out if wanted. Personally I think they really do add to the game as they are carefully balanced to give you enough time but not too much, assuming you play in an agressive fashion. If you try to spend your turns doing overwatch creep to try and spring the perfect ambush, yes, you're going to run out of time and pay the price. Don't do that. Watch Beaglerush on twitch or youtube to see the sort of approach you need to be taking.

There are still some glitches left, but nothing that I've found to be game breaking so far even on Ironman.

Overall this is a legendary game and well worth your time, unless you really hate turn based games.
