Given I've sunk 1400 hours of my life into this game, I feel fairly confident that I could maybe give a completely fair and unbiased review of a pretty decent Chinese mobile rhythm game that just so happens to also be on Steam. Just kidding! Lots of things regarding Muse dash have changed over the past few years, some good, others very controversial, which to this day I'm not sure if my own opinions on these topics could be considered entirely correct (feel free to correct me), but I hope this unnecessarily long ramble could serve as a reference point.

--------------------------------------------
AN OVERVIEW
--------------------------------------------
Muse dash is an anime rhythm game, filled to the brim with cutesy (and lewd) character designs. It's flashy, it's colorful, and the character designs are just a bit lewd, but if you're familiar with other Asian mobile rhythm games, or you've been to the rhythm game section of a Round 1, you'll probably feel at home with these types of aesthetics.

There isn't any western music, don't expect any in the future either.

--------------------------------------------
THE COST
--------------------------------------------
There's only two pricing options, the $1 base-game, and the $30 Muse Plus.

That $1 price-tag unlocks maybe 50 songs, give or take. All other content is locked behind Muse Plus. If it makes you feel better, think of the base-game as just a demo. If you like it enough, consider buying Muse Plus to unlock everything else, except DLC.

DLCs are updates that are paid separately from the normal game with Muse Plus. There's only a few out at the moment, consider buying them if the individual songs per pack are of interest.

Pricing-wise, Muse dash is relatively speaking one of the more fairly priced rhythm games out there, with most songs being included with Muse Plus already.

(Fun Fact: If you purchased the old version of Muse Plus before it was phased out, all paid DLC are unlocked for free as well. Known as Just as Planned, the company's decision to remove it from the store was due to its unsustainable pricing model.)

--------------------------------------------
HOW IT FEELS TO PLAY
--------------------------------------------
Gameplay is pretty simple, you fight enemies that scroll right to left by tapping each lane in time to the music. There's a health bar, which decreases if you're hit by an obstacle, with the level failing once you drop to 0. Different characters have different abilities that may ease the difficulty of playing.

Levels are divided into four difficulties, Easy Hard Master and Hidden, with the first two always unlocked, and the Master being unlocked when you reach sufficient accuracy on Hard.

Like most rhythm games, levels becoming easier through repeated playing, and learning the muscle memory as you go. If you find the process tedious, or struggle with hitting in time to the music, the game might be too frustrating to continue.

The actual quality of level design is rather high, there's no issues with offset, and there's a good mix of both casual and difficult songs, though there are definitely more of the former. I would argue that the game has become more casual-friendly over time, as the use of standard patterns have been simplified and used more often in recent songs.

--------------------------------------------
COMMUNITY & MODS
--------------------------------------------
If you're looking to expand past the game the devs provide, there is a modding community discord known as MDMC, where people upload their own mods and custom charts. Outside of external support, there is no dedicated steam workshop, but from my own experience setting up mods is extremely simple, with the caveat that DLC has to be purchased in order to play custom songs. If this sounds interesting, consider purchasing the DLC and joining this community if you enjoy the game.

As a rogue-lite, it follows most of the same formula: Simple repetitive gameplay enhanced with different events and layouts across the map every round. If you're not a fan of these types of games, then this probably isn't for you, but if it's your first time, then it's an instant recommend. There are no hard technical mechanics to master, just fun and simple deck-building.

Updated: spire with friends made this even more perfect.

Final verdict: An absolute classic

My doctor once told me I was allergic to math,
I never thought Math 53 would give me a rash.
As finals approached, my condition worsened,
My doctor's ultimatum: Die or get tuff'ened.
As I searched for those suitable meds in my stash,
I came across a neat game called Geometry Dash.
The word "Geometry" implies shapes and sizes,
but you'd be surprised by the lack of math it utilizes.
As my body produced its very first antibodies,
I could walk into the test without dashing to the potty.

‘Twas the week before finals, and Christmas was near.
And yet something was missing: that holiday cheer!
As my classmates and teachers all started to fret,
I was lucky to find a neat game called Hacknet.
Oh, how much I had played on another account,
I forgot that my finals were more paramount.
When at last I took my CS61B test,
I could proudly exclaim, Hacknet helped me do BEST.

Path of Exile is an RPG that really surpassed my expectations the first time I played it. While the story is not much (there are a lot of acts but you tend to breeze through each one), the movement and combat is fluid and there's a lot of different skills that make for some pretty diverse builds.

Some standard concerns:

1. PVE - Generally the PVE is manageable. Your level should perfectly match the difficulty of enemies you encounter, and putting a few skill points into health and defense should make tanking through the story rather painless, although not entirely easy. Once the main campaign is finished, you are given the options of finishing maps, Lord's Labyrinth, etc. which is essentially the end-game content.

2. PVP - POE does have microtransactions, but the shop does not sell weapons, only cosmetics. It makes PVP a little more balanced, but you don't have to enjoy PVP to enjoy the game!

3. Loot System / Gear - Some people might have gripes about this. The loot system is pretty complicated. Items that drop from monsters have item levels, which also dictates how strong the mods on the items can be. There are normal unmodified items, blue magic items, golden rare items, and coveted uniques. Certain orbs can transform or modify said items. However, a lot of loot that should be ignored can drop as well, so it is recommended to use an item filter. Also, finding good uniques can be a hassle, making the game a grindfest. Once a character settles on a particular build, combat stays relatively the same, so if you like grinding in a game than POE is probably for you.

4. Currency - The way they handled currency is a plus for me. To prevent severe inflation, the in-game "money" is in the form of useful orbs that can help modify items. Some such as scrolls and lower-tier orbs are plentiful, while others drop less frequently. If you are looking to trade for items, it is recommended to use the chat channel, the POE wiki trade page, and POE price checkers to make sure you're not being scammed.

5. Learning Curve: If you're stuck, look online for a build you like and try it. There are plenty of low-budget / Low-skillcap builds that anyone can try. Also, playing a build will help you learn what types of keystones to choose and what to put your points in for future runs. I would say the learning curve is moderate.

6. Microtransactions: As I said above, weapons are not sold in stores, but cosmetics and stash space are. I don't generally buy cosmetics, but I do recommend buying a few stash tabs on the super tab sales. If you feel the game is perfect for you except for the limited storage space you're given at the beginning of the game, currency tabs can be extremely useful because you can accumulate large amounts of currency that take up valuable item spaces otherwise. Premium green tabs can also be renamed for organization purposes.

7. Content Updates: POE updates regularly for balance issues as well as Leagues. Sometimes, they release large-scale updates like the Oriath update, but those come less frequently.

In my opinion, Path of Exile has become a game that has consumed many hours at once, and a game that I could leave untouched for months. After a while, the grind can leave the game feeling stale, but because temporary Leagues rotate out to bring in fresh new mechanics, the game can suck you right back in. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves to play and grind loot, but if you're looking for some compelling story-telling or lore, you probably won't find it here. There is a lore in place, but it's mostly forgettable.

Side Note: For new players, you might be confused on which League to choose when starting the game for the first time. The thing about Path of Exile that first grabbed my attention when I first started this game was the division between Standard and a Temporary League. Despite what the game tells you, I personally believe you should always start with the Temporary League. Most of the time, what's actually put into the Temporary League will more than likely benefit rather than harm players, new or veteran. Currency is also reset at the start of a new league, so no one has a monetary advantage. Eventually all of your items move to standard when the league ends, so nothing will be lost as well. I would't try hardcore league or self-found league until you're comfortable with the game.

If anyone feels I missed anything or have differing opinions, feel free to leave it in the comments to share!

This game is the HD remake of the original Isaac, but with more content. Although strange at first, gameplay becomes addicting once you become familiar to the new items and enemy patterns. If this is your first time playing rogue-likes, I recommend playing through multiple runs before deciding to either love the purchase, or refunding it within two hours.

Pros:
- Great community
- Good story/theories told through short cinematics
- Gameplay is based off the original Zelda
- Soundtrack is great (I can't say if it's comparable to the original though)
- Not as laggy as the flash

Cons:
- Has two expansions that are each pretty expensive (Afterbirth is worth it though)
- Multiplayer is limited to local only (with controllers)
- Type of gameplay is not for everyone, but that's what the refund system is for! Use that two hours!

Sidenote: You might notice that Rebirth has a Community Workshop with mods, but I believe it is only available to use if you have the Afterbirth+ DLC

Borderlands 2 is a great FPS with elements of RPG. You've got your 4 standard classes (6 with DLC) that all have their strengths and weaknesses, a huge number of guns to choose from, and plenty of sidequests to keep you distracted for more hours you'd like to admit. While single-player is harder without teammates to revive you and you will most likely die many times before completing a story mission, the game is still enjoyable even without friends. I would recommend buying the GOTY edition on sale.
