Puzzles were decent, but don't expect a quest arrow to hold your hand.

The "combat" they shoehorned into it near the end wasn't any good, but it didn't really detract that much from the rest.

Could've used a proofreader for some of the in-game text.

Decent 2-hour Lovecraftian atmosphere generator.

Poorly optimized and with an unnecessary and inappropriate combat system shoehorned in. This thing would've been a grade-A banger without that stupid ♥♥♥♥.

It became quite long in the tooth by the time I had beaten it; I was very much ready to be finished when I still had about 1/4 of the game left to go.

It sometimes railroads you with forced area transitions instead of letting you continue exploring.

It incessantly interrupts your gameplay with unnecessary mini-cutscenes that are often repeats of those you've already seen. You will be interrupted and forced to watch a cutscene every time you so much as press a button.

The items and upgrades aren't exactly perfectly balanced; some (very expensive) item level upgrades are quite redundant by the time they're unlocked.

Controls that are often inexcusably sluggish or downright unresponsive will have you almost annoyed enough to give up on the game.

Finally, it just can't seem to help itself when it comes to shoveling a whole lot of minigames at you that are unfun at best and infuriating at worst.

In spite of all this, I love and strongly recommend this game. It knows exactly where the dopamine receptors are, and manages to aim some pretty heavy artillery directly at them. Imagine if--instead of training them and making them beat each other up--you took your Pokémon home and made delicious sushi out of them to sell to your demanding customers.

Also, kaiju. Lots of kaiju.

Play it.

Absolutely excellent game. Yes, it's a lot like Shadow of the Colossus and a bit like Breath of the Wild. No, that's not a bad thing (what else are you supposed to play on PC if you want to play SotC or BotW?) It's been a long time since the simple process of exploration was as alluring as it is here. This game deserves a lot more recognition than it's currently getting.

Excellent short game that tests your observational skills and attention to detail. Quite a fun experience for the hour it took me to 100% it.

You'll see this referred to as "We Have Resident Evil At Home", which is pretty fair. The major difference (aside from budget/production value/etc) is that if the "escape room" elements are more of a side dish for Resident Evil, Fobia serves them as the entrée.

Excellent game. Though, I can't figure out if J-horror just doesn't affect me like western horror does, or if this game didn't lean very hard into the horror elements. That said, I love how much of this game is built on Japanese mythology. Gameplay was a good bit of fun, as well. I've become quite the fan of Tango, and I'd love to see Bethesda greenlight a sequel to this.

It's an advertisement for the 4090. That's all this game is. As in, don't bother trying to achieve a decent FPS without one. 3080 FTW3 couldn't hit 40 fps @ 4k.

This is how you achieve perfection; you don't try to do too much, and what you do, you do very, very well. Both this and Far: Lone Sails are phenomenal.
