If you like dragon's dogma 1 you will like dragon's dogma 2, here's hoping the dlc gives this gem a bitterblack isle treatment. (there has been nothing that has been as enjoyable as bitterblack isle.)

*Some insights, and opinions.
I have my suspicions on why Itsuno left capcom but If you loved the first game and you notice the issues with this game, then it kind of becomes a bit more clear.

Capcom is clearly exploiting the resources of this game to improve Monster Hunter Wilds.
(I played the MHWilds beta and I rather play DD2, Wilds is rough, really rough.)

*THE STORY
As we used to joke about dd1 story "it's a story"
The Story is so short and rushes to the end so abruptly and without warning you will feel baffled.
The first game's story wasnt legendary for it's story but even that felt way more complete.

*COMBAT
Combat is still a great deal of fun and harkens back to Dragon's dogma 1. It's still leagues above 90% of modern games and that alone will have you wanting to adventure out in the world and explore.
Criticisms.....
In order to make it seem like there are more classes they turned single weapons into their own class, often breaking their functionality. (it would work better in a multiplayer setting)
-An example in which archer classes that have no way to defend close range combat without their dd1 daggers.
-RE Engine still feels really heavy and sluggish with its combat, DD2 and RE4re have done the best with combat so far.
-The diversity of enemy encounters were reduced a lot.

*The World and Towns
You can still do all the funny things to annoy npcs, create fights, exploit the environment, pick up small enemies or npcs and throw them.
Its almost the same as DD1, relationships, interactions, ways you approach quests and npc interactions uniquely.

*Microtransaction Drama
Every Capcom game now seems to have some of the worst DLC that is NOT mandatory.
A game of telephone happened where tons of incorrect information was spread about the mtx.
(everything can be obtained in game without paying) Monster Hunter World, MH rise and Re4re have way worse mtx.

*Performance
Has been getting better, I can't say that for every system because every build is different. A lot seems to be cpu bound.

At the end of the day, even with the worst criticisms of the game's current state, it's worth getting at the price you want to pay.

!WARNING! Deluxe Version does NOT come with a "complete soundtrack" - only a "mini sample soundtrack".

At this price range, this game is not worth it.

*Worse performance than the medium - highest end systems expect 30-40fps dipping to 20's and all the worst Unreal Engine issues with it.

I don't know what I was expecting but I wasn't expecting an action adventure game with majority focus on clunky combat.

If I had to explain it "Callisto Protocol melee lite meets Resident Evil 2 remake's wobbly wait for crosshair to condense then shoot gunplay."

Everything is done in real time now, from opening the map to reading notes.
Don't expect to be able to stop for half a second to read anything or exploring, you will be fighting rooms full of enemies.

You will feel like you're being violently rushed around unable to care about anything.

The sound design and music aren't actually done by Akira Yamaoka and it's painfully obvious.
There is no proper sound staging to enemy encounters so don't expect reliable directional sound.

The performances of the characters range from bland to quite decent.
The Lucid Dream Giallo type acting is gone.
-James is alright I didn't mind him he's pretty good even with a slight bias but open mind
-Angela was ironically the best performance in the game, and she had a high bar with Donna Burke being the original.
-All the characters besides James and Laura have really uncanny appearances.
-Maria has a very Dead Fish facial effect at times, her performance was all over the place.
-Eddie has been reduced into an evil slime covered monster.
-Laura was Laura

The members of Team Silent who did work with Bloober were outright ignored or rejected when they gave their input or desire to change things. I wish they listened.
There are some positive reviews with profiles that have 100hrs and 0 achievements, that is impossible even with advanced access.

I wanted to believe Bloober could make a great game, I found the medium quite charming.
For old school fans of Silent Hill, with this missing every point, leaving a really painful and shallow experience.

Update 2: They are giving out Dying Light the Beast to avoid legal issues after locking everything behind Tencent's awful data mining website.

UPDATE: Still no DLC nor worthwhile updates and now that they are owned by Tencent even worse they are adding an in game Shop and micro transactions.

The self sabotage is real, they bullied all the people that made the first game out of Techland and man does it show.
(What they did to their own people should be enough to not want to play.)

They removed all of the systems and gameplay loops that made the first game wanting you to come back and replaced it
with your standard generic ubisoft open world.

Story, Combat, Weapons, exploration and Loot are all downgraded to an extreme extent.

The Expensive Season Pass has given 1 9.99 DLC that feels like a free update.

They have tied all events to their intrusive website that now data mines player info.
and because it's tedious to claim event rewards they made them available for purchase to get around their website.

Get the first game, the people behind that game deserve all the respect in the world.

Not worth it until the rootkit is removed.

This game should be in the early access category, it feels heavily incomplete like they gutted most of it to put in season passes.
There are missing characters that have been main roster since Tekken and Tekken 2 and tie into the stories of other main roster characters.
Gamemodes that were normally part of the game are no longer included and have been packed in the season passes.

The gameplay has strayed way too far from tekken and has merged with street fighter, the wacky super moves slow everything down and all you focus on now is getting to super moves to finish matches.
The character endings all feel rushed and the mode you unlock them all in feels added in at the last minute.

There are awful network and performance issues, a lot of them are because of DENUVO drm which can interfere with your matches online.

Bandai Namco seems to be doing this to all their games, they are doing this even worse to Soul Calibur 6 by selling main roster characters as preorder dlc.

Most of what has been fixed is what Durante's DS fix already had done, original dark souls on pc only recieved 5 patches that barely fixed the issues. The original game was taken off steam so that this hotfix could be sold as a full game. -This all coming from someone who's been a dork for souls games since Demon's Souls.

THE GOOD (which is minimal and should be expected)
- The frame rate is much much better
- 144hz support
- 4k support
- Multiplayer system is much better (though balance is now exploitable)

THE BAD
-Textures, Lighting and effects were downgraded
-bugs still remain from vanilla version
-washed out pixelated textures are very visible now
--clipping errors galore, enemies still hit through walls that you can't, if you hit those walls your weapon bounces off.
-invaders will kick you out of the bonfire menu
-there are many glitches that still remain from the original version
-the menus are still tedious and lengthy scrollers, some menus were designed with limited hardware in mind.
-

Seriously almost nothing was done to this game that increases it's value or makes it remastered. Almost everything that was changed was already done by the modding community. This game should cost $5.99-$9.99 max and given to owners of the original for free.

The modding community is the driving force behind bethesda games this is just another parasitic money grab. Adding micro-transactions and spamming my harddrive with huge size files so Bethesda can cheap out on propper Content servers. I am uninstalling Fallout 4, I do not want micro transactions in a full price game nor do I want to be spammed on my hardrive.

Sudden War on GTAV offline mods to protect the psuedo Free to Play GTA online, while fun with friends, gets little to no support and requires an insane amount of grinding to get anything cool. this game has been the same price since launch and goes on sale for 10$ less.....
