I was so excited for this DLC, and I’m thrilled that it delivered. It truly encompasses everything I wanted and more: the locations, land, lore, and weapons are all amazing and significantly enhance the game. Some of the spells and incantations should have been in the base game, though, not gonna lie.

If you loved Elden Ring from start to finish, I highly recommend getting the DLC. It reignites your love for the game, and you’ll find yourself spending hours immersed in it. While there are some performance issues, like occasional stuttering and FPS drops during certain boss moves, they aren’t game-breaking.

Now, onto the gripes. Some bosses (specifically four of them) feel excessively aggressive and unfair. In Base Game, fights were well-balanced, allowing players to adjust their strategies after each death. However, in the DLC, these bosses string together relentless attacks, leaving minimal openings.

While it’s still possible to defeat them with patience and understanding of their moves, it can be frustrating. These bosses are part of the main story, so I won’t spoil anything, but I managed to defeat them after 5-10 tries once I leveled up and grasped their patterns. Still, I can’t help feeling that their design leans toward unfairness and lack of fun.

One boss, in particular, completely changes its move set in phase 2, forcing a DPS race to prevent a specific move. I’ve noticed others share this sentiment online, and perhaps a slight nerf to their damage and aggressiveness would improve the fights.

On a personal note, the map design posed challenges. The DLC features a very vertical landscape, with layers upon layers of land, lacking an underground map like the base game. I often lost my orientation and got more confused than I’d like to admit. Having dedicated area maps showing the entire terrain, unobstructed by mountains or other obstacles, would have been helpful.

Despite these issues, Shadow of the Erdtree remains a fantastic expansion. It introduces some of my new favorite areas and bosses in the entire game. The rewarding boss fights are incredibly fun, and there are plenty of secrets to discover. Plus, the new armor sets look really cool!

Overall, I’d rate it 8/10.

TLDR: The DLC has scaling issues and questionable gameplay choices, but it’s still a fantastic addition that I’ll replay endlessly.

This game is really hard to recommend. I did not enjoy this, mainly due to the introduction of adaptability and having to level up your i-frames, which is one of the dumbest game decisions ever made. The game looks extremely weird in some areas. Level design and world design can sometimes be amazing, but others are extremely questionable. As a souls game, however, it scratches that itch people have for one.

This game is hard, mainly because of the bugs and weird controller issues it has. It’s hard, sometimes extremely unfair, but rewarding (sometimes).

Dark Souls III is my favourite souls game, But it’s weird that this is the game I always come back to. I play this game for maybe 7 hours, then stop and uninstall it, then I come back to it to play a souls game, and then the cycle continues. I have 27 hours in this game at the time of writing, and I still haven’t finished it because of this cycle. The most I got up to was the poison tower level where you meet ladder dude.

The bonuses of this game are the content; it’s filled to the brim, and you can do any area in any order you want, which is still really neat.

I will try and play this game fully from start to finish.

But for the love of god, FromSoftware, can you add cloud saving? Like, seriously.

played this game at launch 5 years ago and regretted every minute i spent

but 5 years later this game feels so different and Bethesda have truly turned the game around for the better

some small annoying bugs and lag seems to be a issue (for me at least) but still extremely fun

fallout 4 has been out for almost 10 years which makes me feel really old

its a great game, looks amazing, and runs really well out of the box, but modding is still needed for the best performance

i love this game, it was my first fallout game i originally played it on my Xbox 360, the DLCS are the most memorable in any fallout. it is truly amazing. and when it works i get extremely immersed in the game, the atmosphere, the bleak and depressing nature of the wasteland is still Bethesda best.

the MAJOR downside is that Bethesda really doesn't give two ****s about this game, so if your gonna get it be prepared for spending hours modding the game trying to get it to work, editing .ini files to get the best performance and random dealing with random crashes that happen for no reason seemly simple fixes that bethesda themselves could fix. but nah.

if you want a stable playthrough and have new vegas try tale of two wastelands
it just works
