It's Monster Hunter. If you liked previous ones, you'll like this one.

However, wait to buy this. The performance is really bad. My problems are mainly huge lag drops if you swing your camera and horrible texture loading/pop-in. It's typical Capcom, don't bother to optimise or put in any extra effort to a PC port. Whether they'll fix it or not, who knows.

Awesome game until the story falls out super hard at chapter 3. You get hard railroaded and the story just falls apart from then on.

Early Access Review
It’s okay but has the same problem as most deckbuilders that aren’t the top 10. 90% of the items are garbage and you want to have as few items as possible.

If you have too many items, the claw won’t grab anything. Odd shaped items? Claw can only grab one if you’re lucky.

Magnets and sticky items make you think you can pick up more but again, no. The claw will either drop the whole group or only pull one item out of the group.

I think this could be interesting if it was about trying to grab lots of items with synergies and figuring out how to pick up lots of items.

But instead it’s all about thinning the deck to 10 items or less, only very specific items, and trying to get infinite scaling.

A fun game especially on steamdeck. It's not too difficult and scratches a nice itch of complexity with multiple runs and progression. This review is only for story mode.

It does have some major flaws though. Characters are not well balanced and need work. They are all unique but all just feel a lot worse to play than the original character except for Pochette.

Items and weighting needs fixed. You nearly always end up with the same build of stacking armor with one major melee or magic weapon buffed with status effects. Bow builds are nearly impossible to get going, same with cleaver or shivs. Ultimately, this made me bored with the game but I did get a lot of play time out of it.

Finally, there's been a long standing bug from what I can tell that you can't unlock the temple.

Overall, good but flawed and not for everyone.

Game is being milked for everything they can rather than finishing it.

EDIT: Already working on sequel, still haven't finished original game. Tells you all you need to know.

A lot of reviews have touched on many of the similar points I would make for this game. You never really feel powerful. You're constantly running away, scrambling to try and find quest items or materials to upgrade. The more you kill the faster the level ends as well so if you get a swarm into a swarm, it greatly accelerates the the stage and you can get overwhelmed because you do too little damage.

There are lots of possible upgrade options too, not all of which apply. You have crit, crit damage, reload, reload for a specific weapon, damage, fire rate, damage for a specific weapon, damage for a specific weapon class, run speed, status effect, specific elemental damage, and more. It makes it difficult to focus in on a specific build to really get some power scaling going.

And I think that's the crux of it. As of now, the player character scales too slowly and it feels purely linear. Other survivors you can combine weapons for a huge power scale but here you get +25% fire rate and +25% reload.

It's early access and this game can be easily improved. It just needs a bit more focus and streamlining, some better later game scaling, and then just add content to have an amazing game. It just barely tips over from fun to frustrating. It will get there, but it's not there now.

This dlc wasn't quite as bad as the first but the stupid boss fights are incredibly unfun. Just bullet sponges that spam attacks.

Terrible. Awful map to get around and just a huge chore rather than fun.

The game is fun and worth it. The DLC is terrible. Both dlc maps are a pain to get around, the enemies are much harder and the boss fights are terrible.

First character is cool and interesting. I've managed to beat all map sizes on easy difficulty. I will say though the second character feels awful to play. Hard to control how you mine, charging the orbs is slow, waiting for reloads, and the upgrades are massively expensive. I think the character could be good but it needs a major cost reduction for upgrades.
