Brutal but logical gameplay, simplistic but gorgeous visual and audio style, punishing but also rewarding gameplay and a steep difficulty curve to climb.
If you're into tough but rewarding games, and especially if you like rhythm-based gameplay, do NOT miss out on playing Thumper.

Beautiful platformer with tight controls, a near-perfect difficulty ramp, and new mechanics introduced on almost every stage.
Each stage has optional collectables, that if all are collected, unlock challenge stages with little upgrades to your powers as reward.
For those so inclined, there are four medals for different goals for each stage, one for getting all the collectibles, and one for making it through without losing any lives.
The other two turn the game into a more strategic form; the third by challenging you to get through the stage while using as few platforms as possible, and the last one by getting all collectibles while also minimizing platform usage.
Most of the traps and enemies, as well as the platforms and objects that make up the stages themselves have mechanics that are rhythm-based and perfectly synced to the music (don't forget to set your audio offset in the settings to match your setup).
The soundtrack is fantastic, well worth picking up on its own if synthy beats are your kinda thing.

Cave Story seems at first to be a simple action platformer with some fun and varied weapons.
Then you meet all these likeable characters, and the soundtrack is great, and there turns out to be more story than you expected.
And then it gets even better.

A short but sweet little adventure game, with some traditional and some not-so-traditional puzzles.
This is one of those that will work the best if you go in completely uninformed and unspoiled.
Also, you can make the protagonist ride around on a roomba.

If you don't have any sense of rhythm, maybe give this one a pass.
If you do, however, Necrodancer is full of challenges and content, and if any of the included selectable soundtracks don't fit your tastes, add your own favorite tunes!

Haunting and creepy, with a soundtrack that elevates every little bit to incredible heights. INSIDE is a game not easily forgotten.

This game is strange, in all the right ways.
If you don't mind strange games, play the demo.
If the demo is to your liking, the full game is more of the same, while being nothing like it at all.

Telling you *why* you should play Undertale would be doing you a disservice.
Go in as unspoiled as you can, and enjoy the ride.
