It's fine, a good enough way to burn a bit of time while enjoying herbal relaxation.

Starfield is to games what Golden Corral is to restaurants: lots to eat, you'll find plenty you like and won't go away hungry -- you'll be satisfied, but won't be raving about it. Will be interesting to see what sorts of improvements the modding community will be able to crank out over time.

Great little strategy game where you can play a full round in a couple minutes, instead of needing hours. Well worth five bucks.

It sounds silly, but it's an excellent, quick, chess-based strategy game.

The first time you fire it up, it just throws you in and lets you play; but, it's straightforward enough that you figure it all out within a couple rounds. The two things that weren't immediately obvious to me:

* after you move, if you are in check, game over -- doesn't matter if the attacking piece can move or not
* you can reload without moving by clicking the shotgun at the top of the screen

While the game protects you from really obvious mistakes, it's very easy to lose by blowing away a pawn and oh crap yeah there was a queen behind it, duh. It doesn't feel cheap when that happens (because duh), and I don't do it all that often anymore, but I still sometimes get my firepower jacked way up and forget that blowing away three or four pawns is going to expose me to whatever's behind 'em.

Genuinely great game, perfect for short bursts of strategery fix. If it sounds even slightly intriguing, definitely try the demo.

This is the most pleasant little game I've played in ages. Very, very strong recommendation.

Easily a dollar's worth of game here.

Early Access Review
The combat is OK, but not great, which makes the constantly respawning monsters super grindy and crushes the fun. The game basically taunts you by telling you that you can invent a gizmo to kill monsters permanently when you reach level 11, but it's gonna many many hours before I'm able to do that.

I'm guessing it gets fun later, but it's just way too monotonous early on. Avoid unless you really like repetitive uninteresting fighting.

Thumb very slightly down -- definitely a title where I wish Steam's review system had more granularity than just thumbs up or thumbs down.

The good:

* very pretty
* nifty concept for a 3d puzzler
* nice music (dunno if it's original for the game?)

The meh:

* very short game
* the framing story was *eyeroll* -- game would've been better without it
* walk speed at higher, uh, zoom levels was painfully slow -- holding shift should've doubled your speed instead of halving it (never needed to go slower)

The bad:

* positioning controls for objects were frustratingly titchy for a couple puzzles
* BUGS -- ran into three (objects getting stuck in "place" mode, except it wouldn't let me drop them or pull them back, necessitating a reload; on the final level, hitting F sometimes put me under the dome instead of inside it, requiring a restart; and, worst of all, a lever on the final lever failed to work properly, and I wasted a bunch of time before looking it up and learning it was a bug, necessitating a reastart)

All told, some cool ideas in it, but not enough real meat to it. Probably spent three "real" hours finishing it (discounting the time wasted on bugs or AFK), which would've been two if I'd been able to run faster.

Once the fix some of the bugs, it'll be worth a look, but IMHO it's a stretch at $20. Would be a good $10 game, assuming you're into funky puzzlers and/or overly mopey walking simulators.
