Early Access Review
I've been following this game for quite some time and I'm very pleased its finally moved into Early Access. This was the game that made me move from Stormworks. As an old time builder in Garry's Mod, this game always scratched the itch I was craving from both games and it comes with way less jank, everything you make simply works as intended! I am excited to see whats next, especially with logic, and (hopefully) engines!

Early Access Review
I've had the game for quite some time now and have accumulated a decent amount of play time. I enjoy building and creating things above everything else and this one of those games that challenges my creative ability in design and simple engineering. Having built several Lego models myself I took to this game as way to see my creations come to life; something the Lego Digital Designer didn't feature. Along with brick clipping and scalable blocks!

Overall the game is a great experience and can be relaxing at times, as long as you stay away from multiplayer servers. One of my biggest concerns, however, is that the development team is small being that there is only one person working on the game while they have to take suggestions from an entire community. Having a dedicated team of people would help not only speed up development but bring fresh ideas to the game and expand on the possibilities. Sure there are limitations now and the game isn't full polished but if you enjoy simply designing Lego styled vehicles or anything really then this is definitely worth the purchase.

TL;DR version:
Pros:
+ 60 FPS on a 30 FPS engine locked game, works very well
+ Enhanced textures
+ Enhanced graphics (I.e. depth of field, chromatic abberation, etc.)
+ 3 different styles of BGM/OST to choose from with Original 2006 version included
+ Nostalgia Factor = infinity
+ High Def Fran butt, nuff said
+ Zodiac Job System from the International version of the game that us North Americans did not get to experience

Cons:
- Windowed Fullscreen (Borderless Mode) causes issues for some regarding framerates
- Some do not like the "Job" style license board
- Can't reset license boards/jobs in game without modding
- Some textures look like simple upscaled versions of their PS2 counterparts
- Price is a bit steep for what it is, a remaster. After all it's practically the same game from 2006 with newer graphics
- Uses quite a bit of space due to high resolution textures

If you ever want to know how NOT to run an online game, take a look at GT:Online. A big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where legit players are getting their hard earned money STOLEN from them based purely on SPECULATION.

Do yourself a favor and play FiveM or GTA:Network, at least both of those can you play the game the way you want to and not have to buy ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cards to progress.

Early Access Review
Despite having major graphics issues, crashes, and wierd player glitches, this game plays very well. The combat doesn't feel clunky like DayZ and isn't too "arcadey" like CoD. Teamwork (if you're in doubles/teams) is essential so having a mic is a must as there is no text channels. All of the guns react and fire the way you'd expect with projectile dropoff and penetration. There is still some balancing that needs to be done I feel but overall the weapon choices make sense and all serve their purpose well. The game looks great on high settings albeit quite laggy even on mid-high level systems. From forums and the discussions here on steam though it seems like even enthusiast builds are having issues with FPS, so do not expect the game to be like most other triple A titles out there in terms of FPS. Turn all the settings down, use the launch options and it will be playable.

Overall, I would reccomend this game as someone coming from ARMA mods and DayZ. Do not expect this game to run well on all systems however. If you can't justify the purchase based on that, give it time; the gameplay is top-notch!

In the very short time I've played this title, I've done next to nothing. I've explored the tiniest fraction of systems in the galaxy, I've owned 3 ships, I've lost 3 ships to high level NPCs which I tried to pick fights with, and, worst of all, I've witnessed terrible (player) pilots who can't land or fly worth a crap. But somehow, this game doesn't frustrate me at all. You can literally do whatever you want; you can be a miner, a cargo hauler (legal and illegal), you can be a bounty hunter and you can be a system conquering paradigm of your chosen faction.

All in all, this game will most likely pull me in for a long time, it has everything other big name MMOs have without the nuiances of being an MMO. Yeah sure there's microtransactions, but they're meaningless, it's all cosmetic items. You can pay for it if you want. It's a bit expensive for what it is but, again you don't have to get them. This game is huge in the literal sense and in the "gaming" sense. There's tons to do without getting bored, tons of ways to make money, there's stories to read and listen to, there's tons of progression, and an almost limitless amount of systems to explore.

If you're in to space-sims this is a must-have.

Hands down the single most riveting experience I've ever had in video game. I don't even need to bother with details, just buy the game and play it. 10/10

While I've only played about 2.7 hrs as of 20160927, the game has pulled me in quite a bit. I am not a fan of MOBAs but the title does a really good job at masking the MOBA concepts it adopts. 5v5 with two lanes, essentially, and an arena in the middle that opens up occasionally during battle. The team based combat doesn't feel too pushed but you can really feel the necessity when fighting against human players, as with most competitive MOBAs. Perhaps my favorite feature of the game is the F2P aspect. In essence, this is how ALL F2P titles should work. If you choose to spend money it does not give you an advantage over others as you're only unlocking the ships and crew members soonr as well as obtaining skins for ships. Overal this title is a must play, I mean come on it's free; what do you have to lose? Just uninstall it if you don't like it.

Overall I have to give this game a very positive review. Of course I've dumped over a hundred hours into this game, and probably will continue to given Concerned Ape follows through with updates. If you like Harvest Moon type games then this will be perfect for you. It handles almost exactly like Harvest Moon, right down to the crop harvesting. The graphics are excellent, the pixel sizes stay consistent throughout the game however sometimes this leads to the characters looking a bit awkward. Nothing a bit of modding couldn't fix though. The music, while not too overbearing is charming. However you'll find yourself in dead silence sometimes especially inside your farmhouse and barns/coops. This games leaves room for quite a bit of replayability as well, maybe try a different path with the community center, a different spouse.

TL;DR version:
Pros:
-Excellent Graphics
-Charming music
-Wide variety of crops to choose from
-10 potential marriage candidates to choose from with plenty of dialogue once married
-Highly modifiable
-Can be played any way you want, no linear path to follow
-Nostalgic factor 10/10

Cons:
-Dead silence somtimes, as far as music, in certain areas
-Characters can look awkward at times especially the girls
-Girlfriend/Boyfriend relationships don't carry much weight and don't have specific dialogue

Unlike most of the reviews here I will keep mine positive because this title always seems to bring me back; maybe not for long periods of time but there was always something refreshing or exciting to try. That being said, the game does still feel like it's in beta. There's so much more there could have been or still could be. Perhaps in the coming weeks/months/years will have a totally different experience. I can't say that I understand Chucklefish's move from early access to release but I can say I will most likely keep coming back to play Starbound.
