Opening thoughts
My Time at Portia was seen to me as another agriculture platform that brought an open world to the table. With a variety of graphics options, and voiced characters all throughout the game. There was a lot that was riding on board for me to enjoy this game. The amount of space it took up and the amount of stress it put on your laptop was not that much, depending on what you did graphics wise. There was a lot to the character creation that was pleasant, there wasn’t too much to keep you stuck creating your character after ten hours, been there, but it does give you enough options. It gives you enough options to be satisfied with the personalness of your character and it gives you enough to be satisfied with your own person flare. Recommended and gifted by a friend, I decided to give it a try, and just like that I was hooked and it took me a while to find the words to explain why I was hooked, and why it’s worth every penny.

Story (Spoilers)
Now, moving onto the story there was a lot that had me keep coming back for more. To being, the church was an amazing aspect that I would never see to expect in a game like My Time at Portia. Having there be a church that wanted to destroy the technological data of the island certainly made it all the more interesting, and I was hooked on figuring out all of the technology in the game, which is one of the reasons why I kept coming back. The game being is to follow in your father’s steps and to have one of the best builder workshops, certainly makes it more competitive, and I am glad that they didn’t implement any punishment for not being right off the bat and later in the game. Other aspects of the story were the side quests and they are easy, and they can also be very hard too. It was confusing accepting unreality hard quests at the beginning of the game, because my thought was that the quests would increase in difficulty later in the game. The game doesn’t force the tory on you to make it an RPG by force, but the one thing that I had trouble with is the amount of things that were going on at once, of course in real life it would be the same, but I found myself overwhelmed at the beginning of the game in terms of activities, events, group meetings, quests, story quests, and so many others. Right off the bat, it gave me a headache and that got me in the habit of not meeting all of them. Aside from that, I most definitely will want to 100% the game and it’s something that I will keep coming back to later.

Gameplay
The gameplay was that of any agriculture game. It’s fairly balanced and there is a lot that reminds me of a game that is no more, Project D Online, having there be enemies spread all over the game in random areas is nice, and it makes it easy to farm items and drops. The variety of tools influencing the environment also matched up to one’s standards. Having a higher weapon of value, the easier it is to mine items. The one problem I had, was that determining how far you could go in the game off your wits made it hard. To explain: Strategy in the Sword Art Online series, the Monster Hunter series, and the Ace Combat series is all based on your skill. Dodging and making the most of your stamina are all somewhat similar across all the games, though this is something that I didn’t see in My Time at Portia, which made it a click faster and you’ll do more damage, which made it feel a little underwhelming. When you would dodge an enemy, the amount of time for the animation to finish was too long, and enemies could hit you in the process of dodging, which makes it frustrating in terms of one making a strategy for themselves over the course of their life and having to just click faster beat their strategy made it, underwhelming again. Aside from that, it is easy to learn, and it does make it fun and a little easier to grasp when first being exposed to the game for the first time.

Art
The art in the game is something that takes it easy on the eyes after staring at it for a long time. So, there is no need, although I do not recommend, having to leave to go take a break. Depending on what the graphics used though, you varied whether you wanted a game that you could keep coming back to or a game that looks unfinished. This is something that plays against the ability of the game. If you have a good computer then you can enjoy the game to its full potential, but if you don’t have a good computer and you want to enjoy My Time at Portia for its story, which should be your intent in the first place, then you are in a pickle. The graphics at their lowest prove difficult to wrap your head around, with the whole game looking like a bunch of colored polygons mashed together in Microsoft PowerPoint. If you can get over that fact, I applaud you. But if you do have a good computer then you don’t have to worry the least. The character art, the textures of the trees, and the textures of the items, they all seem to work together to set a main theme of the game, which is comfort.

Closing thoughts
Wrapping this review, I want to say that this is probably one of the top three Agriculture games to having in your arsenal. With a fun premise and very interesting dynamics, this game is most definitely worth every cent. There is a lot that I have yet to find out about this game, but that only makes it all worth the while, to be able to grow, fight, and build in this game makes it all the more desirable and worth the amount of time to put into a game like this. I recommend this game to people of all ages and people of all genres, this game is different in the sense that everyone, no matter what genre of game you excel in, you can enjoy it for the fun that it is. It is most definitely one of my most favorite games and comes in my top three agriculture games of all time.

Q and A
What are you pursuing in college?
Currently, I am going to college for Computer Science and am a little nervous for how hard the classes might be but am confident that this is the right path I want to take to secure my future career whatever that might be. I am also looking at taking some online courses for video editing as a side gig that I can do on my free time.

What are you doing on your free time when you are not playing games?
Currently I am making my own game, and I am editing videos with Vegas Pro 22. The game I am working on is inspired by the Fate series from WildTangent. I loved this game since I was a little kid and I thought that making a multiplayer sequel to the game would bring joy to some of the people who still love the franchise.
I am also learning to edit videos with Vegas 22. Currently I am taking baby steps in terms of editing and am hoping to have the energy to do some fully edited videos with some of the stuff that I am recording with my friends.

When you get older are you still going to play games?
So, a little update on this question. I thought that I would not have any time during college to play video games and that I might move on from video games. I was wrong. Gaming during college is what helped keep my productivity high, because I would set goals for myself and then reward that with some VALORANT rounds every now and then. I do prioritize getting my work done and gaming has helped me stay on track.

Are you streaming still?
No, I have ceased streaming for the foreseeable future. This is because OBS and Streamlabs do not let 49-inch monitors stream at full resolution without the software lag and it causes many problems. Instead, I am recording and uploading to YouTube as the recording part of OBS works without any problems. I am editing some of my VODs every now and then, but it is purely for my own satisfaction. Plus, I like watching some of my own videos occasionally.
