This is also good.

This is a numbing game - built for people so unhappy with their empty lives that they need to silence the howling void within through junk-food dopamine and meaningless advancement.

.... and so if you check back on this review in a few months, the play counter will definitely have gone up.

"Open world sonic" sounded like a bad fever dream, but it turned out alright I guess

The game is patchy, and hit or miss. But, when it hits, it's **really good** - to the point where parts will probably be staples of game literacy, just as with 7.

Just like... ignore the overarching plot, 80% of the ending, the awkward and cringy dialogue, anything having to do with Chris Redfield, and the occasionally-gaping holes in logic, and you'll enjoy it.

Oh, also, it's still pretty buggy on PC - frequent slowdowns and sound/graphic desyncs requiring restarts on modern hardware and recommended settings. Maybe give it a few months if you're on the fence.

I'm really conflicted about this expansion. On the one hand, progress actually feels *good* on this map - no having to look up random spots to get specific resources, no having to struggle against the elements to get a taste of end-game resources. Start with wood and stone, go a little ways in to get iron, go a bit further in to get brimstone and black ice, and at the center of the map is meteorite - true almost no matter which direction you approach from.

On the other hand, the map is.... bland, same-y, and occasionally annoying. A lot of the areas are really homogeneous and devoid of reason to explore. Many parts of the map have random bosses who seem to serve no purpose but to irritate and obstruct. I have one base near a ley shrine where I can't get 10 seconds into resource gathering without having to fight 3 wolves and a one skull boss. The old map was annoying because it withheld iron and had you deal with annoying environmental effects to get black ice and meteorite, but at the same time it had a huge amount of variety and biomes - and it felt like each different area had a *point*.

I'm sure this could be *turned into* a good map - but the way it is now, it's not very interesting from a multiplayer co-op standpoint (I'm guessing it would fair better from a multiplayer pvp standpoint).

There's also an entirely separate layer of frustration with how un-explained everything is. Why are the lay shrines dormant? How do you get thralls? How do you get end-game items and designs? There are answers to all these questions out there, but finding them on the internet requires a huge amount of research, and finding them out yourself is damn near impossible. Some people find the "discover the mechanics" part of the game interesting and compelling, I do not.

Overall, I find the map *just* this side of tolerable - not worth the money or effort. Maybe try it in 6 months to a year once all the rough spots have been ironed out.

If you do decide to switch now, I suggest turning resource gather rates and XP up. There's literally no point in dawdling at the lower levels on this map - most of the new 'content' seems to come from dungeon-crawling and fighting, so you might as well cut out the middle man.

This genre needs no more games. Factorio has obviated them all. Bow before the eternal champion of the Craft-em-up genre.

Fun game if you enjoy exploring, mining, and crafting/upgrading equipment, although the exploration is a little thin given the saminess of most planets that are of the same type. Don't expect to be seeing awsome new things at every turn so much as spend time scouting for familiar structures and resources that will help you tech up.

In regards to technical issues, there are plenty of guides on the internet to get around the major ones, although you need a processor made after ~2008-2010 to run the current build due to some of the CPU instructions used. Other major fixes: Turn Gsync off in the configuration files and in nvidia control panel (internet guides exist on how to do this), turn max framerate to max, and switch to borderless. Runs very well for me after I changed those things - before there was constant hitching & low framerate.

Promising - it's UI brings MTG to a computer competently. Ultimately, though, if you want new cards and don't want to pay, you'll find yourself wading through a slog of voiceless, samey matches. It lacks the variety, personal touch, and so on that makes actual MTG a fun game, while making the act of filling out your deck painfully slow.

After a few matches it's just kinda boring, and you still only have 1 or 2 "good" cards - nowhere near enough to build any interesting decks.

You get to have godlike powers over time. What more do you need to know, except for how much it costs?
