It's a pretty good idler with steady opening up of other mechanics/upgrades. I like it because it's not one of those that wants you to prestige every 10 minutes and has clear goals for your next prestige to aim towards. There's nothing overly confusing. Right now, I'm on sector 10 and I feel like I should be able to blast through some of the starter areas faster but I'm fairly certain that'll be an upgrade later.

If you like card games that have 30 minutes of nothing going on but people buying stuff to build up combos, which you aren't allowed to have since you don't have all the heroes, then definitely check it out.

Not a bad game out of the box, but you can tell they didn't really do any kind of focused testing when it comes to the Curse levels, which is basically this game's way of trying to extend it's life span; play the same level over again except harder.

Harder means the usual enemies have more HP, do more damage, but it also means more elites. Which basically means all the time. Same with suicide goblins that explode instantly when touching you. The result ends up being a really jank mechanical and visual mess, where you might be trying to play a melee character, but find yourself unable to actually get within striking range of bosses because there's 8000000000 incoming area damage indicators on your location at all times, and about 300 enemies body blocking you from getting wihin range. Or, if you are in range, you will be knocked away by one of the suicide goblins that you couldn't see, because of all the area damage indicators and other enemies on the screen at one time.

This is in stark contrast to vampire survivors, where your main object is simply not get touched at all, with the infrequent ranged attacks. This game pretty just amps up the ranged attacks, by way of area damage indicators, by whole orders of magnitude as the difficulty goes up. This leads the game to more towards "annoying" difficulty rather than "challenging".

The skill tree is also pretty small, I've completely filled it out save for one item after like 8 hours of play. Generally speaking, it does little to combat "+300% boss health" anyways.

It's a fun little shmup with persistent upgrades at a decent price. The challenge is there, though Im not sure if buying all the upgrades is going to diminish that significantly. It's in EA so take it for what you will, but overall completely playable. Looking forward to adding new bosses.

Game seems okay, but the whole playing Hacks mechanic is a little low brow. Hacks are like a sidedeck of cards that allow you to manipulate the outcome of the play. You can either play one, or pass. Going 2nd in this instance actually gives you an advantage, as once you pass, your opponent is free to play whatever Hack they want, and you have no opportunity to respond to it. It's pretty murky. For this reason the game is pretty unfun 50% of time, since you have no idea what kind of BS hack the AI is going to pull and have no ability to respond to it. Until they change the mechanic to pass the phase, once BOTH players have passed, I would probably stay away from. Refunded until then.

It's okay. Some of the Agents have interesting abilities. Other agents have re-hashed abilities from Xcom2 so nothing new there. You're not allowed any deaths, presumably because they need those characters around to keep throwing quips at each other.

The 2D art is pretty atrocious. Some of the voice acting is okay. Not sure why all the aliens speak like normal humans and sound like normal humans. The Sectoid you have talks like a dude you know. The enemy sectoid you shoot makes the same sounds sectoids make in Xcom2. Okay.

The battles are more short and solution based than XCom2, and the encounter maps are fairly small. Breaching mechanic is pretty neat. The strategic layers feels more like Xcom1 than 2.

The game's narrative is pretty funny, don't pay much attention to it. You have a sectoid on your team who "regularly subverted government figures" or something, and he can mind control people and read their thoughts, but apparently he's empathetic to the human cause so they let him out of jail and he's totally reformed now.

The tutorial mission has some background chatter in a museum where it tells about the alien invasion and how it "killed billions." I'm not sure about you, but I don't reasonably think anyone would be letting aliens out of Gitmo after erasing ~1/2-2/3rds of the World's population. To add to the hilarity, a small text blurb even says "Well The Commander sees the bigger vision and is totally cool with this outcome"

You have aliens wearing human clothes, doing human things, speaking human language. Everyone knows this kind of city would last about a week before they were all kicked out or put into a mass grave.

The core gameplay is fine, though. I just wish they'd cut the number of escort missions by about half. Those are entirely unfun after the 5th time in a row.

It's not a bad game. Has some quirky randomness to it similar to Dokapon Kingdom and a nice art style. Not too many online games listed yet. Sometimes the CPU makes questionable moves. Is the price point correct? Seemed a little high, that's up to you.
