As a self-proclaimed professional video gamer who gained all the street cred by playing a useless amount of hours of video games, one thing I always kept hearing throughout my video game "career" is that games based on movies don’t work.

Although this might be true in a lot of cases, I do think it really depends on the approach the developers take, and RoboCop: Rogue City is a fantastic example.

Technically, it's not based on any specific RoboCop movie, but it's recreated in such a way that it feels exactly like how a new movie could be. It has the overly exaggerated violence, the cheesy dialogue, and the superb visuals that match the visual identity of 80s action movies. As a person who grew up with RoboCop, this game ticks all the boxes you could hope for.

This is all well and good, but how is this going to matter for a person who has zero nostalgia for RoboCop? Should they still dive in?

Heck yeah! Consider this: you play as this super overpowered robot policeman who has tons of tools at his disposal to smash enemies into dust. You can literally grab heavy objects and throw them at enemies, or even throw enemies into each other. It’s super chaotic and makes you feel like a tank — in a good way.

The game is mostly linear, usually giving you open-ended levels where you can partake in some police activities such as giving parking tickets, catching criminals, and sometimes even engaging in whole side stories. This isn’t mandatory and you can just go straight from point A to B, but to me this was a great way to detox from the main gameplay and I totally suggest doing it.

It feels like a light version of games like Deus Ex. It has some decisions to make, and while they don’t weigh that much on the main story, it’s just fun seeing the characters’ reactions to RoboCop making threats in the most polite way.

It’s a really good game, although it can feel a bit too simplistic at times. I did enjoy what it had to offer, and visually it was really amazing. Performance wasn’t the best, but the ray tracing made it worth it — it’s just a spectacular showcase of the technology. Definitely recommend playing this one!

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, is a fun curiosity to see how far the "ninja storm" series have come, first impressions were really good, combat felt great, and the animation work is something that still holds up really well today...BUT despise all of these amazing qualities, as a stand alone product it's a very hard game to recommend.

the main story mode is very barebones, most of the story events are told in text form, they give whole village to explore which is a nice bonus for those who enjoy the Naruto universe but its filled with monotonous side quests that are simply just rehash of main missions.

Unless you curious to experience the past games, Id say skip this one, and start with Ninja Storm 2 instead.

Mario Kart lived so we could have Sonic All Stars Transformed, such a beautiful game, the handling of cars(and boats and planes), the visuals, the music, everything about this game screams perfection.

If you think having Negan from walking dead a weird addition to tekken 7, wait until you see the football manager manager as a playable character. You still reading? Buy this game NOW

With a very limited time I played this game, i can tell this was probably one of the best arc sys games out there, and now with rollback, it's a must have if you into anime fighting games, just be prepared to be annihilated online as often as any other older fighting game.

Horrible pc port, it stutters frequently to the point i end up playing on a console for more consistent frame-times.

In a time were games were mostly tackling realism with pee filters, El shaddai definitely stands out as one of the most visual unique experiences out back in 2011 , 10 years after we finally got this rather unique experience on PC.

Describing el shaddai isn't an easy task, but think like someone took an real existent mythological story and made into a video game and there you have it. It tells us a story of Enoch, a scribe sent by god to defeat the angels on earth, and while as a game it's not doing anything special, i think the way visuals are presented and how the story is told makes it the whole experience worthwhile. it plays very similar to the original devil may cry with some platforming into the mix.

So if this sounds great to you, It's not a super long game, and it's definitely a unique journey. Give it a shot!

Lost Planet 3 on paper sounds super cool, it tries to be a more grounded version of the original Lost Planet games, you play as Jim Peyton, just your regular guy who's trying to make some moneys to help his family by adventuring in this planet in search of a new source of energy, and this is one of the strongest points how human the main character felt

Despise my praises, I can't say the same for the story, I felt like I could predict the whole story on first 5 hours of the game, with that said, I still think has some cool moments here and there but overall felt like very unoriginal.

The gameplay although decent and fun, It falls often in a very mundane pattern of third person shooters of that era, you basically shoot cover and repeat, the game is presented in a linear fashion but you can take detours to do some side quests as means to get new upgrades for your weapons and mech, but to be honest those upgrades don't feel worth it...

And make matters worse, the mech combat is drastically nerfed from previous titles, and I understand from a story standpoint it as mechs they use were strictly for mining and not combat.

But there's moments where the game forces you to fight inside the mech, and those fights are like the most repetitive and non challenging things, you literally just parry, grab and attack.

You eventually get new upgrades which changes a bit, but part of me wishes it was more organic and less scripted.

To sum it up, it's not a particular game that id say go your way and play it, but i think if you are itching for a 2010 triple a title to just enjoy the ride and appreciate the visuals, this might and ok pick. But as for me I thought the game could be better

Granblue Versus had one of the most bumpiest rides for fighting game could ever lived, It came out in a time where fighting games were moving towards rollback netcode and crossplay and granblue versus had none of it, it ran on your good ol'delay netcode that made it feel like I was back in ps3 era.

As much enjoyment the rpg mode and single player content that had to offer, I wanted to play with real humans, and at the time, servers were EMPTY (because dumb me purchased the ps4 version), to make matters worse, with a global pandemic, naturally no locals to play this game offline either

These two factors alone made me reconsider my choice for fighting games, and I end up settling up with Guilty Gear Strive , but always wondering, when granblue will received same treatment?

Well, that thought lasted 3 years, because finally in 2023 we had a proper version of granblue versus with rollback, but it's not technically the same game but more so a 2.0 version of an already existing game, you get 3 new characters, new mechanics, all the previous dlc characters and most important for me, rollback netcode with crossplay!

GBVSR simply put, its mix between street fighter and anime , it has a bigger focus on spacing and footsies, but at the same time borrow things you typically see on anime fighting games like air blocks or rolls, it has a bigger focus on approachability and accessibility making a great fighting game for starters.

With that said, I must put and asterisk, as GBVSR isn't a super popular game like sf6 or tekken 8 and likely you encounter people who might have way more experience playing the game, but for those are unsure about buying, there's a free version that let's you play online with rotating character so give it a try.

As for those who want single player content, I don't think this game will be for you, there's less offline content , and things you can unlock feels more geared towards people who play the game online, if you happened to have already the vanilla game and didn't care for the online portion I think this will be much harder game to justify the money, as for me, it's one of my favourite modern fighting games.

Tldr : Fun gighting game that mix between anime fighter and street fighter , with proper rollback and crossplay, not so much value added on singleplayer side, so might not be worth it for everyone

Games set in a Western Era is becoming rarity these days, but don't let this one pass , It takes you this journey of this bounty hunter sharing his tales during his life, or at least how he remembers. While the stories are nothing to write home about, the dialog is quite funny, and the game is very quotable.

As far as game play goes, it's linear first person shooter, the shooting feels super good ,it's very arcade where the kills stack points , and those points revert to upgrades, it's a short but yet solid game. Play it :D
