I'm sh@t at multiplayer. Big believer in "single-player experiences". These are in no way related.

A Masterpiece, Eventually...

I've owned this game since it was first released and I loved it then, even though I couldn't honestly defend the state it was in at the time.

The story has always been there, the stunning visuals too. Was it broken on release? Yes, absolutely. But the question now is, have they fixed it? Yes, absolutely.

The game is an absolute tour de force, an assault on your senses, and an absolute marvel to behold. It isn't perfect by any means - the 'rpg' elements aren't as deep as you might hope (it's more Deus Ex than Witcher 3) and it still requires a beast of a PC to run at 60fps or higher.

The writing is where it really shines though, and in that department there are few games that can touch it imho. Your character, V, is wonderfully written and incredibly well voice acted. When you first land in their shoes, they can be a little unlikable but you'll grown to love them as you watch their story unfold.

Night City is filled with incredibly well written and complex characters, and the romance options feel meaningful and draw you in. Keanu is Keanu - magnetic - every second of screen time his character gets, you'll hang on every word he says.

The side missions are some of my favourite in all of video gaming. Whether it's a story of clandestine activity surrounding a mayoral race, or wrestling with your conscience when it pertains to a potentially sentient vending machine, I honestly couldn't get enough.

My advice would be to do EVERYTHING that Night City has to offer before you walk into that final mission because, regardless of the ending you get/choose, when the credits roll you'll be left with that almost satisfying melancholy you only get from finishing a great book.

Honestly, if you can run it, you owe it yourself to try this game.
