I see what they were going for with this game, but I think overall it fails just at the finish line. It is certainly an interesting concept that they were going for, and I can see this story in a TV show that I think I would rather enjoy, so the writing I did not have a problem with. But when playing you really can tell that they are first time developers.

The issues usually are small and don't mean mutch on their own, but they all added up to be quite bothersome.
For example is the voice acting not anything special, I'd say 6/10. Secondly it was the controls that annoyed me,(I was playing with a controller). Stuff like square being the jump button, or when you were running(witch is not left stick, but circle) moving left/right became some sort of weird turning action witch really threw me off. Also that the menu system isn't intuitive, it is really small tings like one more unnecessary button press to complete a transaction.
It also seemed that in an attempt to make the game realistic, they made world navigation unnecessary tedious. Like for example every Bush having a hit box that can't be jumped over, so I ended up grinding up against all the geometry in the woods to try and get around, this issue is a bit reminiscent of gta 5 witch also have missile proof bushes, showing that this is a more common issue.

Sometimes a more realistic game doesn't improve the experience, or it can even harm it. The most important thing in a game is immersion, and when you try to do something and it doesn't work, that is when immersion is truly broken, not when I walk through some Bush that I couldn't walk through in real life.

Also when returning to your home village, you can only enter through the main gate, witch wasted time for no reason. I understand I'f they have some cool cutscene that takes place by the entrance, but try to make the reason to go there more organic, like the main character remembering that some old man stored some tools in a shed that is by the main gate, it accomplishes the same goal, but without it feeling like I am forced to go there. Also horse navigation was particularly bothersome, as the weird turning when moving fast is also present here, but since a horse moves mutch faster than a human the issues were amplified.
I also felt that there was an overreliance on cutscenes, witch really killed the pacing of the game. It felt as if everything had a hit box, and you would be stopped dead when running if you were close to any corner or sudden change in elevation.

For instance In red dead redemption 2, some similar experiences can be found, but rockstar show that they are more experienced, like your horse auto avoiding edges and some geometry if is was in front of you. This also works against them is the forest however, since the game had to try to avoid so many trees at once the horse seems to have a mind of its own then. Now this isn't to say that red dead 2 is perfect,(its not). And that game has given me is lts own share of troubles.

The cutscenes exhibited some weird behavior, when the fps randomly would drop to 16-17 for no reason I can think of, as it seems utterly random.

I could write some more things about how the quests just feel like go to place x and then to place y, but I have already written about a bunch of issues I had, and I doubt that anyone actually reads all I have written in this mini review. I commend them for trying, and they got soooooo close, but fail at the final moment. I hope that they learn from the mistakes that made in this game, and come back stronger with their next title in a few years.

the keyboard controls often malfunctions, and i have had to resort to playing this with a controller. and now the game doesnt even boot anymore, since the rockstar launcher is trashware.
