Early Access Review
Very good game. Even as it is in Early Access, there is a lot to do and a fun gameplay loop. The game does get a bit grindy towards end-game, as a lot of time is spent making armor and weapons for your soldiers, but it's still very fun. Combat is great and the ability to individually equip your troops and then lead them into battle Bannerlord style is very unique and fun.

Put simply it is a great game. The only downside is that there are a million DLC's for it. However, the addition of a DLC pass makes it a lot easier and a lot less predatory.

All right, with 32 hours in, the game is very good. It definitely gets better with the time and the game world and quests are truly epic. I have 32 hours, spent pretty efficiently and I'm not that close to the end (lots of side quests and exploring) and have plenty of side quests left as well. The combat system is fun, and the action aspects let you challenge content well before you're at the appropriate level, which makes for some challenging and fun fights. The story is also pretty solid and definitely grows on you with time. The gear progression is simple, but provides challenge and also gives you a lot of different item effects that you can combine to make some really interesting builds. I'm loving my tank flame warden...but I also really love my affliction rogue and can't wait to try a spellblade mage. There's a lot here in terms of different builds that each feel different and are dynamic and fun to play.

With that said, there are flaws in the game. Some of the characters just feel like a really cheap attempt to bring modern social issues into Dragon Age (Taash). What makes matters worse is you pretty much have to support them with their modern social issues, instead of just doing the Renegade Shepard thing and saying 'shut up and focus on the mission'. This is a huge oversight because, let's face it, in a world where there are evil Gods trying to bring about an apocalypse...how many of us would really care about someone's identity issues? Whether you agree with putting social issues like this into games or not, the fact is that the way these scenes are put into the game feel forced in, immersion breaking and frankly cringe-worthy. Taash in general is just a poor, lore-breaking character. Bioware clearly wants to portray her as more of a modern, moody teenager with some gender identity questions. To see one of the most war-like, stoic groups in the game reduced to a moody teenager wearing a tribal peacock outfit is just very disappointing and there's no real reason for it. In general, the game does have a very regrettable step away from being able to play as a hard-nosed jerk, which is disappointing for those of us that loved our Renegade Shep playthroughs.

Early Access Review
The game is still early access and missing a lot of promised features (only one map, no on-map rival factions, etc). However, with that said, the core mechanic are very good. I have not yet seen a game that combines city-builder, economic sim and RTS-style combat as well as Manor Lords does. Definitely worth a try!

Even without mods, this game is the definitive city builder. With mods, it is a license to create whatever the heck you want to create. Whether it's building your dream utopia or simply seeing how many people you can cram onto one map, City Skylines lets you do it (well, if your hardware says yes). With mods, the game looks almost as good as Skylines II, but with ten times or more the content.

If you can find this and the DLC on sale and you enjoy city builders, just buy it.

Will update as I keep playing.

I highly recommend this game. The graphics are visually pleasing, with great character models (best of any MMORPG so far) and some very pleasing environments. The combat is tab target (bummer), but with enough flashy animations and a counter/defense system that makes it feel more dynamic than other tab target systems. For a tab target game, combat feels much more interactive and exciting than, say, WoW or GW2.

Updating this, the crafting systems are similar to other Korean grind MMO's. This means a lot of time spent farming. However, you don't need to worry about an upgrade failing, you at least get the minimum progress as far as I can tell.

A big issue is that the game doesn't do a great job of educating you on all the different systems. If it does, it's sometimes hidden behind a quest that isn't necessarily obvious. It'd be nice if there was just a reference feature or tool tips that would help explain. It's a bit clunky.

Quick summary: a step in the right direction, but not quite there yet.

The DLC adds some new weapons and the new game world is aesthetically different, bold and interesting. The addition of more unique environments is also a great plus that makes the planet feel more diverse and alive, like it was built by living organisms and not a very basic AI. I found the characters and storyline to be considerably more compelling than the base game. At times, the game feels as immersive as any Bethesda title, BUT the "at times" caveat is where we stumble.

Combat remains way too easy. I am level 40 and on the hardest difficulty settings on a combat-lite build (most skills in social, starship design, outpost building and crafting) and I am sailing through the fights barely breaking a sweat. Some more challenge would have been nice...like that 'oh-♥♥♥♥' moment from Fallout 4 the first time a Deathclaw picks you up and decides to use your face as a chew toy.

While the overall storyline is much better than the base game, they missed huge opportunities with Andreja. NPC's refer to her like a generic companion, even though she grew up there. You get a handful of random lines from her (especially at the start) that make things a bit more compelling, but they aren't consistent enough to feel like anything more than a teaser of what could have been. Especially for someone like me, who romanced Andreja, this feels like it could have been the opportunity for some great character development and NPC-relationship building and it was just missed on.

Overall, this is a good move in the right direction. Unique environments, some interesting (and cool looking) new gear, a notably better storyline...all these things are positive additions to the game. If Bethesda can build and CONTINUE TO IMPROVE on this, then Starfield may finally become the game that it could have been.

Great game, remember playing it as a kid a depressingly long time ago on my first ever 'gaming PC'. The Definitive Edition update brings it back strong. All the great (and at times corny) storyline, with the city of Lost Heaven to explore. Free Roam is a more classic, 'open world' experience (just remember that it's open world by a much older standard). The graphic updates are awesome, the game looks modern enough and it's hard to believe it's as old as it is. I highly recommend this game as it was the best Prohibition Era gangster stories I've ever played.

The game was polarizing on release and some of that (bugs and glithces) was fair. However, a lot of the poor reviews were also based on players wanting the game to be something that it never really was meant to be. The game still offers a lot of the fun that I love from Elder Scrolls games such as ability to fully customize my character, my equipment, etc and a big, open world to muck around in.

And yes, it does feel like mucking around at times. The instances do tend to be very repetitive and the worlds are empty. However, the worlds are supposed to feel a bit empty...the whole premise is that humanity has just started to explore the stars, not that we've been there for millenia and built thriving nations and cities. I feel that Starfield captures the 'early colony' feel pretty well in most areas. The repetitive instances are annoying...but I also feel that this will be fixed pretty quickly by either Bethesda (who has acknowledged the issue) and the modding community.

Overall, this game still offers a lot of fun (75 hours for me), at least worth the $70 price of admission. The best part is that, as a Bethesda game, it will only get better each year as the company and modders add to the game. Is that the best model for a franchise? Probably not. But it does make for a lot of entertainment and replayability.

PoE is the best ARPG out there in my opinion. There is a huge breadth of content with tons of different activities to do. It can seem a bit mashed together at times and overwhelming when starting out, but there's a lot of fun and depth to be had. The addition of gold and your own settlement in the recent patch just adds more layers to the game. Considering everything included in the game, it's amazing that it's free. Yes, there are items to buy that will enhance your comfort (such as better stash tabs), but I've played through for hours without feeling any urge to spend a dime.
