This game isn't worth picking up. I've put in hundreds of hours and there are times where I genuinely get nostalgic over it, but ultimately I cannot encourage anyone to start playing or for old players to return.

Bungie has been plagued with utterly atrocious executives for entirely too long, from blatant mismanagement to insatiable greed and topped off with sexual abuse of employees. Because of this, the game has been rotting from the core for ages now, as all the money that should have gone to the people who ACTUALLY contribute to this game's development is being used to line the wrong peoples' pockets and fund their unending legal issues.

Even if this wasn't the case, the game itself is just unapproachable at this point. Narratively, the game has the MCU problem where if you wanna get into it, it requires consuming hundreds of hours of content just to catch up where the game currently is and PLOT TWIST, all of that content has been vaulted. While you can return to select missions, its never gonna be enough to actually get you to where you should be.

And if they did have that, the New Light progression is still kinda a**, as they ripped out the intro from D1 and barely renovated it to actually reflect D2's current state. So unless you have a sherpa, it will take a very long time to get a hang of the game.

tl;dr don't play this game. it is not worth it.
