Ok, so hands down: this game was clearly crafted with a lot of love for the original. the sound effects, and details are spot on. Myst is like an old memory for me and it's truly beautiful to get to walk through this world in a real way! If you've never tried myst: buy this game
If you love myst: this is -by far- the best remaster of it. It is really beautiful and "feels" like the old one did.

My only con is that I really miss the FMV animations. It seems silly but they really did add to the feel of the world being a little bit eerie. The animated faces just dont hold up the same. I know FMV isnt really a thing too much anymore though

The level of detail given to this game really blows me away. It feels like it was really lovingly constructed. Net cost information on every item. Construction times. An incredible variety of materials and structures to work with, graphs and consumption rate indicators. So much attention given to helping you create a beautiful factory that runs as efficiently as possible.

All of which is really helpful when you step back and realize you've just done 10 hours of planning and constructing and you're still not producing enough iron for all 100,000 gears you need every minute.

At the beginning of this game I got beat to a pulp by the town drunk, at this point I can best just about any character in a swordfight. To get better I went to a swordmaster and trained, not like a training montage: but literal practice with different moves, parries, combos, etc. Theres an absurd attention to detail in this game. I rarely write reviews, but this game really did it for me. Nearly every questline has options to avoid physical conflict if thats your thing, you can sneak, talk, or fight your way out of just about any situation. There are some particularly memorable characters, and the voice acting is good. I spent several hours of this game playacting as a monk to take care of a bunch of quests that needed me in the monestary.

Pros:
-Incredible combat system. I dont swordfight irl but this functions like I imagine swordfighting would. It's as much about tactics and wearing your opponant's stamina down as it is about hitting them.
-Fantastic world, incredibly beautiful. Reminded me of real places
-Compelling story
-Interesting quests
-Weirdly: not cynical. Seems silly, but theres a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuff in the world: it's nice to play a game that doesnt have a depressing outlook on everything.
-Lots of ways to problem solve

Cons.
-Not very many character models. It doesnt take too long to start seeing the same faces everywhere
-Detailed animations leave a little bit to be desired: things look fine when you're walking around, but once you get into a conversation there's not much in the way of animations. Characters have a handful of different animations that they all use to express themselves.
-Can be a bit buggy at times. Other reviews say there are game breaking bugs, Ive not encountered those (they may have been patched out at this point) but there have certainly been some annoying ones.

Overall: 100% reccomend if you like this sort of game. None of the cons come close to outweighing the pros.

I was a huge fan of SimTower back in the day, this definitely scratches the itch. It's very fun!

My only complaint is that it's a little easy once you get rolling, It cuts out the elevator management aspect that SimTower had too much of: but I think it could stand to bring it back a little bit. As your tower gets large you can just start slamming floors on with no problem because you're flushed with cash.

This game is so addicting. I never had any interest in it before and bought it on a whim during the steam sale and then I forgot about the whole rest of my life. What even is my name? What job? what family? there is only farm.

buy this.

Ok, so I played this with the "Wuss Mode" mod (which makes monsters non-hostile) and also I skimmed a "Lets Play" video the whole time so nothing would surprise me in any way whatsoever: and it was still one of the best games I've ever played.
I love story driven games, especially ones that are a lot of listening to recordings and reading papers. Soma does this well. It was very fun to piece together what had happened and think about the various ethical dilemmas the game presents you with.

I would imagine that the "combat" element of gameplay would be fun too if thats your thing. There are only a handful of encounters throughout the game, maybe 8-10: but each seems to play out like a strategy game of sorts. Enemies each have their own set of senses, tricks, and abilities that you're really on your own to discover as you encounter them. (e.g. some can't see light but can hear the sound of your flashlight turning on, some can open doors, etc).

If you like interactive story games: this is a good game. A super good game. Like probably one of the best games of it's type I've ever played. It reminds me of a quantic dream game without all the bad mechanics and "JASOOOOON"s.

Some of the characters are a little cliche at the beginning, but I think that really serves to highlight how they all grow up throughout this game. Its so good. I've never made a review on here before, but this game seemed worth it. If you like feeling lots of emotions and stress while you're having fun: this one's for you
