Easily Lucas Arts' best known graphic adventure from the '90s, here availabe either with traditional or remastered graphics (they can be switched at will during the game).
This point-and-click adventure takes place somewhere in the Caribbean and the main character is the wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood, who survived the events of Monkey Island (previous game in the saga) and is now in search for the mythical treasure "Big Whoop".
This elementary is plot is just an excuse to challenge the player with many puzzles, whose solution are both hilarious and logical at the same time. There is no chance to die, no chance to amke the game unwinnable and plenty of scenario to explore. Its only flaw is the lack of replayability: once it's over, there is no challenge any more.

The Escapist is a real time puzzle game with RPG elements. The player controls an inmate and has to break free froma prison. How? The possiiblity are countless: digging a tunnel, cutting the fenc, beating up the guards... There is really no limit to the fantasy! A good escape cannot be improvised, though; hence the need to plan ahead, scavenge materials, forge alliances and even do some menial jobs to earn money.
The controls are very intuitive and every new prison poses different challenges.

"Easy Red 2" is a FPS set in WWII with plenty of strategic elements: not only has the player to advance shooting enemies, but he has to coordinate his efforts with his squadmates first and with other squads second. That means giving and receiving orders, calling for support and, eventually, switiching to a different character.
The game is not limited to infantry, as every vehicle (civilian or military) can be driven; even planes can be flown, for strafing and bombing.
There are several campaigns, all of them historically accurate, which can be played either alone (offline) or in multiplayer (online). Speaking of accuracy, the background is where the game really shines: uniforms, names, weapons and equipment have all been thoroughly reseached, giving every match an authentic feeling and satisying evn the most demanding history buffs.
As if it were not enough, the most hardcore players will find a scenaro editor, too.

Is it perfect? Sadly, no. The game still has many bugs and minor problems, quite expected since we're speaking about an indie product. The good news is that the creator is constantly working to fix them and actually answers forum posts.

Long story short: if you liked "Medal of Honor" and "Call of Duty", do yourself a favor and give this game a chance.

No point in beating around the bush: this game owes much to Maniac Mansion. To clarifiy, it's a graphic adventure where the player leads a trio of unlikely heroes (chosen among a bigger pool) to explore a creepy mansion avoiding its ghastly occupants. That's the plot in a nutshell.

The gameplay is a classic point-and-click but the difficuly is very high and there is little room for mistakes, as more than one party will be totally wiped out or simply get to a point where the game is unwinnable by design. This could prove frustrating for players who grew up with more forgiving titles (e.g. the Monkey Island saga), but also very satisfying for hardcore puzzle solvers. The solutions are always "logic", though.

Long story short: only buy it if you want to dive thirty years in the past and use up all of the save slots.

MD is a gestional sandbox with quite a few RPG elements. The player is called to live the life of a medieval peasant in some generic Old World country on his path from rags to riches. The gameplay is surprisingly realistic and there is no "right" way to play: hunting and gathering can be as satisfying as farming and fishing or just running errands for other NPCs or gathering people to build a new settlement.
There is actually an underlying plot which explores the main character's background, but it's easily the weakest part of the game and can be ignored.
It can be played either online or offline, of course.

Third chapter in the saga, covering a timespan of roughly 300 years (from the 16th to the 19th century).
The gameplay is the same as in the two previous titles: units gather resources to construct new buildings, research technologies and train more units.
The biggest difference is the experience value granted by every successful action, which allows to play cards from a deck, granting various perks. The building of said deck is a vital part of the strategy in the preparation of a match.

The biggest flaws are a certain artificial stupidity (enemies aren't effective on water maps) and the lack of actual historical campaigns: one above all the Napoleonic Wars.

That said, it's still a wonderful historical RTS, supported by a solid research. If you liked the first two, don't miss this.

This game is a complete mindscrew, but I mean it in a good way.
We control FPS-style Stanley, am employee in a generic company, who finds his daily routine suddenly disturbed and must find answer to his existential questions.

I know, it may sound cheesy, even dull, but there's no better eay to explain it. Try it yourself or watch a few playthroughs.

As far as indie games go, this one is a very interesting ecperiment.

This game is FREE and, even though some perks can be bought with real money, none of them are necessary to achieve a 100% completion. It's a feature which nowadays cannot be taken for granted and it's important to underline it.

The actual gameplay is strategic/gestional: the player is called to manage population and resources of a vault (a huge and self sufficient atomic shelter).
It is essential to keep the dwellers healthy and fed, which can be achieved powering specialized rooms.
There's also an exploration part, akin to an old-fashioned RPG, where a few selected dwellers leave the vault to go on scripted adventures: repetitive but satisfying.

The game takes place in the Fallout universe (albeit only semi-canon) and there are countless shout-outs to the main saga.

Give it a try and, if you don't like it, you can have your bottle caps back! 😏

"So hard to find decent GAMES nowadays."
Allow me to start with a semi-quote from Firebead Elvenhair, a minor character.

Actually there are quite a few good recent games, but BG is easily the reason why they are available, as it is one of the first isometric RPGs ever made, back in the '90s; the others just followed its path.

The story takes place in the Forgotten Realms™ and follows the adventures of a young orphan, unveiling the mistery of their birth and trying to prevent a war breaking between two lands.
The setting is a faithful adaptation of AD&D rules: races, classes, skills and all that.

This EE boasts improved graphics, several subquests and even four new characters (each with a definite backstory).
Bottom line: a must if you're into this genre!
