This could have been a masterpiece but it turned out to be a good game with (too) many bugs. It is an indie game and the developers still have a long way to go.
Let me elaborate.

I like the '90s graphics and the interface with nine commands is fitting albeit redundant but the arcade-action sequences are poorly scripted, unnecessarily hard and totally useless. Yes, they add nothing to the longevity of the game and are all placed at the end of the adventure, when button-mashers have since long given up. A nice cinematic would have been a better reward for solving the previous puzzles: we could have sat back and enjoy the sight of our character fleeing from the cultists. Speaking of cinematics, not all can be skipped and this makes re-playing a tedious affair.
Besides, money seems to be important but turns out to be just a red herring: there is only on optional purchase and it is impossible to run ot of cash. This is maybe the reason why, after reaching Innsmouth, the character stops counting what is left in his wallet. Then why adding this item at all?

The plot is intriguing and faithful to Lovecraft's original works (always a plus): the story starts somewhat light-hearted and gets progressively darker and edgier, once gotten to Innsmouth. The biggest flaw is that our actions and struggles amount to nothing: in a situation reminescent of the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the main character could have simply scratched his butt and the cultists would have been defeated anyway.
There are also a few plot holes and unanswered questions which could fill the "headscratchers" section on TvTropes.

To make a long story short, the game is nice but not worth its exorbitant price. I still give it a positive review because its qualities still outweight the flaws and because I would like to see more games from this developer. Also Matteo "Shaman" Poropat was involved in the project and he is a great guy (LGC is a beautiful software).

Early Access Review

Buon divertimento a tutti!

Simply put, this game does not work on "modern" computers. I had to download three or four patches in order to make it run (I have Windows 8) and even then the graphic performance was not adequate.
I am deeply disappointed at Steam for releasing such a flawed product and I do not suggest it to anyone. It is a real pity because the few bits of the game that I saw were really compelling.
Wasted chance, wasted money.

This is an awesome RPG with a very complex character creation (and development) system. The difficulty is not so high and, basically, it is very hard to achieve a "game over"; as any good RPG should be, great emphasis is on the "plot" part, rather than the "gameplay" one.
The graphics are ok, but not exceptional, taking into account year of production and system requirements; musics are fine and dialogues are even better: honorable mention to the dubbing, which gives characters authentic accents.

With hundreds of hours worth of gameplay, forty bucks is a reasonable price.
