This is the best thing to come since BG3 came out, since it basically gives the game endless replay time with the community extending the content with their own ideas and content!

Best game developers, ever. Love you guys.

Fun little fuzzy survivors! You are forced to follow the tutorial when first playing, which is good so you can understand how to set up your little beaver village. Everything needs to be linked to paths, is first to know. Secondly, the food doesn't go bad, so stock up as much as you can for the droughts and badwater cycles. Same with water, you can't have too much water saved up! Once I survived a few cycles of badwater and drought, I created a new save and did a better job at plotting out my furry village. I also found it fun to edit maps to better suit what I dream for my little beasts to build up!

Edit: Developer is so dang active and cool to interact with! I ended up doing the beta side so I can try to help find bugs but also to get the newest stuff sooner, hehe. But honestly, Blorf has a lot more planned for the future, and the game is already so much fun! Put this game on your wishlist if you can't get it now, but man it is FUN. Once you unlock everything, the challenge is to try to keep everyone happy and sustained, harder than it sounds!

Original Review:

This is a simple sim that has a good first start that explains everything you need to do organically, so that you are less likely to forget where to get certain resources. You can have a nice farm with animals, but you must be able to collect enough fodder for the animals and your people to last through winter, for there is no way to grow food during the winter. Your pets are dogs and cats, which will eat whatever meat you have available, so keep that in mind as well! Collecting eels and fish, hunting other animals can be done through the winter... so meat is easier to gather through the year. If you plan on having any farm animals, make sure you at least have a dog or two around as well, because they will protect the livestock!

One thing I highly suggest is to dig out a section out of a mountain, not too large! 1 Pallet of full frozen jugs will cool off 9 squares of area all year long, (pallet included in the 3x3 area) as long as it is closed in on all sides with a door. Do not put any heating into this cave, but keep a window to the outside. I suggest just putting a pallet of full water jugs in the middle of a 3x3 room and let it freeze during the winter. Once all the jugs are iced, you have year-long cold storage for your perishables! Dried mushrooms do not expire in warm weather, so be sure not to waste your cold storage with those! Learn how to dry them ASAP because you can gather literally thousands of them and dry them for food through the winter! As of this time, dried mushrooms last FOREVER as long as you keep them dry and out of the weather, no cold storage needed! To learn how to make the Mushroom Rack, you need to pick 50 mushroom, gathered some branches and crafted some twine. Straw can be easily gathered by picking reeds along bodies of water, quickest way to get straw first thing in-game.

I also build a cold "dead bodies" storage area where dead animals can be put until the clanfolk get to butchering them. It needs to be covered and remain cold! You can build a cold storage area out of any walls you can build too, but building it into the mountain gives an extra cooling bonus, so I always try to use mountain caves (with natural mountain roofing) for my coolers.

Relaxing but also a bit.... creepy. I mean it's all good and wonderful until you go towards a distant boat and find out that it's actually a GIANT MUTANT FISH LURING YOU IN.

Peacefully creepy.

A classic colony manager that allows some micromanaging and has been supported by different mods for years. Every playthrough can be completely different from the next, every colonist you have develops their own story and ideals. It's pretty good for relaxing play.

Simple game with more going on than you think! Don't let the simple graphics deceive you, this game can be quite complicated but still relaxing, save for when a tiger shark suddenly appears. Take your time to upgrade your equipment, there's no rush to get quests done.

Best game ever for simulating factory lines and the process of harvesting and producing materials to make different components for even more complex components, all running along belts that take said items from one factory to another. On the sideline, there's these pesky aliens that are trying to destroy your factories because you are polluting their planet, but they are easily managed.

It's the most DND game I have ever played, and it's beautiful! It feels intimately familiar due to how much it is just like playing DND with a small group of friends online, it's just wonderful. The turn-based play is exactly how it should be done by DND standards, although I do understand that some people hate turn-based fights, it's just a part of what DND is; strategic fights! You can't just run in chopping everything up and move on in a couple of minutes, no no. So if you are looking for quick hack/slash fights, this isn't it.

I had been hearing about this game for years now, and how glorious it is. I used to play all sorts of ASCII games, grew up playing oregon trail on an orange screen, back when it was brand-new and exciting. Computers were not just for learning typing on or doing office work!

That being said, once they started to actually have graphical games, my love for gaming really took off. This graphical version of Dwarf Fortress was an easy buy on steam, even better if it's creator gets more money for his addition to the game itself!

It's still got that old-timey feel to it, and what a hell of a learning curve to be on! DO THE TUTORIAL IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE. Actually useful and helpful, while you still have the wiki to go to for understanding how to use the different aspect of things and objects in the game.

I'm getting comfortable enough in my gameplay now that I am actually paying attention to the personality of the little dwarves in my fortress. Found out this one dwarf I had made a baroness randomly WAS A TOTAL TYRANT and was having people killed for not keeping up with the production she was expecting!
Thing is, that was MY FAULT for not having the smoothest way to ensure I had enough raw material for production... but this lady... WOW. Finally, there was an uprising by the Bard's guild funnily enough. Then the miners guild decided to kill a few of the Bards and holy crap this world is full of murderers and cutthroats now.

... and I would have missed it all if I didn't start paying attention to their moods.
