This is a remaster done right. These games have always had excellent story and dialogue, and it's good that they've been brought back to modern audiences. Gameplay can be rather dated in places and it shows, and I will say that between the two, Soul Reaver 1 is the better game. That said, both are still worth going through.

The textures have been done beautifully and extra content such as concept art, outtakes and more show that this was a labor of love.

Since then, the franchise seems to be experiencing something of a renaissance with a prequel graphic novel on Kickstarter as well as further exposure in the form of documentaries such as the recently and excellent look by Noclip.

Here's hoping there's a shiny future for Legacy of Kain. "The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: hope."

Very chill and nice game that can be fully played in the lower part of your screen. You begin as Rusty, just a simple robot man enjoying his twilight days tending to a farm.

As you grow crops, you unlock more profitable crops and continue to accrue resources which you can then utilize on other buildings, grow livestock, have more robots with various and unique tasks to bring forward, furnish and decorate your farm, etc.

More levels will put you on different biomes to mix up the gameplay, such as the desert biome where you'll need to put more than a couple of different water wells, water bots to keep up with the extreme heat, otherwise it'll dry up your crops (and profit), extremely quickly.

All in all, very unique and nicely made game, easy recommend.

I was recommended this masterpiece and I found that I could click a banana to get an achievement. As someone who will do anything for that 100%, I clicked that banana like you wouldn't believe.

10/10 Bananas are good for you

What's Spirit City: Lofi Sessions all about?

Spirit City is a relaxing "feel good" tool more than a game, specifically. If you've ever watched a lofi playlist on Youtube you'll know exactly the feel this game is going for, a nice relaxing vibe equipped with decorating, ambient sounds, and the aforementioned lofi soundtrack.

The game's main purpose is to act as a productivity tool that is easy on the eyes and ears. If you enjoy having to-do lists, journaling, or just enjoy some pure organization, this game is perfect for you as it offers all these options and more. Do you need to set a timer to focus on an important task? It has that as well. You can place your avatar in several activities around the house, even though these are just visual for the most part.

Gameplay

Spirit City does have an objective ingame, which is to finish your Spiritdex. You have an array of spirit companions that you can befriend and choose to stay beside you as a pet. All these spirits are different and they have specific needs to attract them. Maybe you need to be at night during rain to call one of them, or be next to the fireplace during the afternoon. The game will tell you when one spirit is being lured in. You just wait and eventually you get them. By idling in the game and completing daily activities such as clear an item on your to-do list and log in, you also earn the ingame currency: Spirit Credits which go a long way in unlocking the fancier house furnishings as well as more outfits for your avatar.

Visuals

The game's art style is popping and very pleasing to look at, which is a good thing. The game will put you in a room that you can fully decorate. These decorations range from the normal furnishings and colors, to lamps, lights and even the look of the outside. Couple that with being able to change the time of day and you can easily see how the room's lighting would change. You have your own avatar, again, fully customizable with many outfits to choose from.

Audio

A game with Lofi Sessions in its name needs to have good music, and fortunately this does! At least if you're into the Lofi subgenre.. because if you're not.. Well. You probably should have known what you were walking into.

The game comes with several lofi playlists, which are all solid and fit different moods, but you also have the option to go to a separate youtube playlist via its ingame web browser if you've heard enough of the ingame default soundtrack. The game also comes with its own separate sounds for relaxation, think rain, keyboard typing, sizzling cooking sounds, anything that can put your mind at ease and in focus. I keep stressing these points because the game does do a really good job at this. When you combine these sounds with the music, it can make for some peak chill moments.

Performance

As the game's main purpose is to act as an idling/chill background game, it's a good thing it isn't taxing on your PC at all. You can easily have this on while you're either focusing on other tasks, playing other games, whatever works for you.

Closing Comments

If you're into lofi, want ways to organize your day better, or just like relaxing after a long day. Get this. It's not expensive and likely will be one of those games you will keep installed long after you've "finished" it, which in my opinion isn't why you'd get this in the first place. Solid recommend.

The Warmth Between Us is a short and sweet visual novel that depicts a chance encounter between two people, one being a game designer and the other a seemingly carefree and fun girl by the name of Tina who just happens to be "sightseeing". As we read on we find that there's a whole lot more to Tina's story, and as we pull apart the layers of said story, we find her reasons and personality don't come from as lighthearted an origin you would think at first.

I enjoyed some of the music, the banter between these two and just how Tina became the person she is and how she eventually grows. For the asking price, it's a good time.

I feel like the cosmos has realigned itself as the last minute approached and all the grass joined in to welcome but reject my touch almost immediately. My heartbeats became a palpable war cry crying out for release but my palm refused to give in!

The five minutes came to a close and my adrenaline gave way to a smug nirvana, continuing my dominance for a while longer.

Changed my life tbf

Early Access Review
A game that is best played with the complete absence of outside knowledge. Let its rich world, lore and brutal early game welcome you into its mechanics as you learn how to survive and thrive in this harsh but forgiving land. Definitely bring friends with you, that's how you get the most out of Valheim.

Nothing beats going into uncharted waters on a viking longboat alongside your buddies, hunting for exotic prey and harvesting rare materials, only to be ambushed by a Troll as he smashes the local forest in a bloodthirsty frenzy. I personally love how you can chart the world map and share that with your squad, complete with custom markers to denote landmarks, camps, whatever you feel you can add in. The building's also really intricate, given some time, you can make some elaborate stuff.

I will give one piece of advice. Make sure to bring some bug repellent. You'll understand why later.

That's all I'll say about it. Again, not knowing much about the game is what makes it special. 10/10 deserves the "Better with Friends" prize for Steam Awards 2021.

So what's Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist?

It's a free short game that has some of the charm that the Stanley Parable offers, and while different in its own right, it's kind of like an appetizer for this type of game. It doesn't last long but you won't regret the time you've spent with it. The fun dialogue more than makes up for its lack of deep gameplay. It's little more than a walking simulator, but a good one at that.

It's weird, wacky and wonderfully voice acted. My advice? Quit reading anything else about it and just play it already.

Verdict

Go play this right now.

So what's DED?

DED is a minimalistic d2D shooter in which you play as a russian hobo trying to rescue his granddaughter from... the mob. I think. Game really doesn't explain much, and tries to convince you instead that it's worth it through the gameplay alone. Now, is it? Depends on what you're looking for. Easy mode will make you breeze through this and have you thinking you've beaten generic shooter #3973.

However, if you want to have some fun and if you're looking for a challenge, go with Hardcore mode + a pistol. In this mode, timing, enemy recognition, and reflexes are everything. As you progress through the story (after dying time and time again) you'll get a skill point to invest either for greater health, more damage or range. DED is a challenge, especially in the first levels where you're not as beefed up as you can be in the later levels, and while it can feel cheap at times, getting through the harder levels was pretty satisfying.

Verdict

Only worth it for the challenge. Casuals will feel unsatisfied.

So what's Blink the Bulb?

It's a discreet and challenging little tribute to 16-bit platformers. Soundtrack sounds like it's straight off the Sega Genesis. Similar to Megaman, you get to pick and choose which stage you'd like to take on. You get to explore five stages at first, with the sixth stage unlocking after you've beaten the first five, and you'll get to face different bosses depending on whether or not it's day or night on the level you're playing.

The difficulty here is all over the place though. Due to the freedom of choice you're given with stage selection, you may happen to find some fights to be a cakewalk, while others to be punishingly hard.

You can use various powerups, some giving you active powers while others provide passive stat boosts that remain with you throughout the entire game, so you do get some sense of progression throughout the game, which I found to be a pretty nice touch. Blink himself isn't the most charismatic character around, and some of the models for the enemies also seem pretty bland, but the gameplay's definitely fun.

Verdict

Not the best platformer out there, but better than nothing.
