One of the greatest recoveries in gaming history.

I've had this game since release (yes, I'm insane and had other games like Fallout 76 since beta) and it's easily one of the best survival grind games out there now. Adding new content every few months that expands the game, although usually not much to each lately, that still provides players with new things to do. Fair warning for those who are new to the game, the initial grind is very slow and can be a bit of a struggle. It does because fairly smooth once you understand the game more and upgrade your gear and ships.

NMS is great to play with friends as they've polished up the multiplayer and even added VR support. Unlike games like Far Cry, you're not tied to the other players so you can explore planets separately and leave the solar system at your own will.

Great screenshot game too especially with graphic mods you can find on NexusMods. I'd recommend Deep Space v2 as the colors in solar systems tend to be a little too much sometimes.

Edit: They could definitely overhaul the economy in the game or even out the pricing for upgrades. Making any sort of currency in the game is stupid easy so getting the highest level upgrades can be achieved within the first few hours of playing even in survival (hard mode for NMS).
