Patch 1.001.100 made a lot of needed changes the game needed
Lets hope Arrowhead can keep it in their pants this time and not drag their knuckles into undoing all the good this patch does like they did before in June

My review was previously negative and against buying this game in its current state, however after dumping some hours into rebellion I can now feel confident in saying this game on a game play and somewhat visual level makes itself a worthwhile purchase. It brings many quality of life changes like easier fleet management and being able to select a fleet and build ships for it from the best factories relative to the fleet and when constructed they'll head to the fleet. However the game also comes with plenty of disappointments that make it difficult to stand behind the game completely and so buyer beware.
Now first and foremost to bring some context to some of these, I want to mention that to me it comes off as if they are presenting this as a feature complete 1.0 game ready for major and minor expansions to be paid for and because of this it makes some gripes I have with the game more pertinent. First and least important to me is going to be the ai generated art, I do not inherently have an issue with them using it as a PLACEHOLDER; however with whats previously mentioned, and how the generated art completely fails to mesh with the game most of the time and how it sometimes fail to make sense with what its attached to and overall it just makes the game feel really bargin bin cheap when it crops up. They have disclosed this at the bottom of the store page, but it doesn't make any of the issues I see go away.
Secondly, which isn't a huge issue but the Menus blow chunks, in their current state they are regressions with limited options and only last week of writing this review did they add more graphical customizability to the options. The gui also looks really really cheap and this also extends into a lot of game play gui's as well.
I do not like the integrated mod system in its current state, its constantly clunky and doesn't work most of the time. When you try to join games it doesn't even try to sync the mods up and gives you a list of what you need to go get before you can join the game. The load order doesn't seem to matter, though, like it did in Rebellion.
When setting up a game there's what you'd expect but its noticeably a regression in match settings with things missing from the previous game like flagship loss condition and fleet sizes.
EDIT: Also, apparently they use AI generated art which just further solidifies the cheapened feel of the game but in game its not that bad and I hope to see what they will replace it with in the future if they do

I may rewrite this but to narrow down how I feel, The multiplayer at release for a full year didn't work for more than 5 or 15 minutes at a time for me which now 2 years later has supposedly been remedied but I wouldn't know since if I ever play this game again It'll always be with people with the seamless coop mod, Which I think aspects of should just be part of the game like; getting rid of most of the fog walls that make no sense so you don't spend 5 minutes just to go into a low quality copy paste dungeon and horses in multiplayer to explore open world.
I really feel the game is overrated as well, Not that its a bad product but since it feels like a regression in most ways for most of the game from previous FromSoft titles I can only feel disappointed in it. From the Overtuned boring bosses that feel very generic and boring with perpetual deathspin attacks or they fly into the sky and back onto you and blatantly broken hitboxes to artificially make the gamer harder or the flashy weapons that suck ♥♥♥♥, or copy and pasted dungeons that are just so monotonous to go through. I also made substantial progress little playtime I have and was able to see a lot of what the game has to offer, and while there were a lot of cool things scattered about it made me feel like the open world is just poorly executed overall and a better option would have kept it similar to DS3 with branching paths into larger areas so that the game keeps the feeling of exploration alive while also being able to show off all the neat things that were within the open world. With all of this in mind and constantly in the back of my mind while I play, I just cant bring myself to enjoy this game or care about the lore because it falls flat in the face so hard especially in the light of their previous entries and that I think just really sours it for me. One day I will try to revisit this game and give it another go, but for now this game overhyped and mediocre in my eyes and I feel no more desire to keep going.

As a disclaimer, I cant in good conscious recommend the game at its full current price tag of $30 USD but at $15 or below I think is reasonable. Not because it doesn't feel like the work the developers put isn't worth the price tag or even more, but because of how the game falls flat.
The game is stunningly gorgeous at times, and the Atomp Punk aesthetics of the games are brain tickling cool. I really liked the narrative, the ideas it presented as well as the dialogue that the voice actors put to life 99% of the time, it kept me on my feet by being really interesting and I happily sat there 5 to 10 minutes at a time listening to dialogue before I kept going.
However Im mixed on the gameplay because on one hand it is a narrative driven game with not much going on other than pushing the story forward. Sometimes you get rewarded with interesting dialogue if you explore but most of the time you just waste time and have to backtrack. I still enjoyed it enough to give it a positive review though
if the game was more polished both gameplay and jank wise, and the game was less linear and had more going for it to encourage exploration it would be fine, But instead its a strictly linear game with the illusion of choice where as the only choices that matter are in the last 5 to 10 minutes of the game making the façade of it not being a walking simulator moot. Though I cant really decide if dumbing down the player input on the journey would make the game better or not because really what they tried to do might have been one of the better directions to go.

I bought this back when you had to buy the package deal to get Ostefront so I decided to pour some time in this, and I will say that there is some pros to this game such as buttery smooth vehicle handling and I like that unlike Ostefront or the Men of War games, you can aim anywhere and shoot without the weirdness the other games I mentioned have.
But the game feels incomplete and the biggest turnoff and tanks being seemingly invincible, atgms cant seem to kill a tank unless you hit a moneyshot in a weird spot, and tanks have trouble killing eachother. Shooting the top of the turret seems to work best but otherwise shooting the sides or back of the turret or tank, or other unmentioned weak spots just doesnt do anything
