Good but needs more content

Absolute goat of all remakes.
Keeps everything great about the original and gets rid of the stuff that was dated about it without losing the basic essence of what made the original so good.

Some of the best improvements
- The pacing. RE4 Classic already had decent pacing in the first half of the game but faltered a bit with the castle and especially with the Island. RE4MAKE makes smart cuts in places that would outlast their stay while also expanding other areas leading to a game that is actually longer but better paced than the original. The island has gone from the droning last third of the game where I wanted the game to get over already to an action packed extended finale that just keeps getting crazier until the game ends.

- Tank Controls of the original have been replaced with traditional over the shoulder controls leading to far greater mobility and a stronger kit where guns can be switched on the fly but in compensation enemies are a lot more aggressive leading to the same godlike balance of the original whilst having modern controls

- All bosses except for Del Lago and El Gigante (and U3 which is absent) have been revamped for the better. The most standout of this is Jack Krauser whose improvements in addition to further exploration of his past with Leon makes him much better from the original.

- QTEs have been almost completely removed and replaced with other mechanics from the remake. The best example of this again is the Krauser knife fight which relies on good reaction time and parrying instead of QTEs.

- Secondary characters like Ashley and Luis either have a more nuanced personality or more screen time and I appreciated them infinitely more in this game than the original.

- Leon "S+" Kennedy has gone from 1980s cheesy action hero to a hardened professional with a lot of charm. He still cracks one liners as a way of bringing about levity to the mission or for his own coping but he takes the mission a lot more seriously. Moreover his time in RE2 has both been directly mentioned in the game and has had a tangible impact on this Leon leading to his change in RE4 from RE2 feel a lot more organic than the originals.

- Because of this, The game as a whole is a lot scarier than the original because of the toning down (but not outward removal) of the B-movie tone and the intense atmosphere Capcom came up with for the RE2MAKE.

I heard a From Software game that won GotY would get a DLC soon.
Can't wait to fight Tomoe ;-;
